Inspiring Conversations with Holly Messer of Messer Real Estate Group

Today we’d like to introduce you to Holly Messer

Hi Holly, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I never set out to become a real estate agent, but life has a funny way of steering you toward what you’re meant to do. I started as a teacher, and I absolutely loved it, but as my family started to grow, I knew I needed a career with more flexibility. Then I went into sales for a construction company in Texas, and that’s when I knew that I loved sales. When I moved to California, I got my real estate license and started my real estate career. Raising my kids while showing them that women can balance family and a fulfilling career became a focus, and that’s its important to love what you do.

Reinvention isn’t something I shy away from as I see it as a chance to grow. After transitioning into real estate, I joined Shorewood Realtors in 2008, then moved to Christie’s Strand Hill in . When I was presented with the opportunity to move to eXp Realty, I knew this could be a great change for me due to the low fees and the opportunity for revenue share. I moved to eXp Realty as one of the first agents in Manhattan Beach at their cloud-based brokerage. I took a leap, knowing that embracing change could open doors, and it absolutely did. Now, as part of the SouthBay Team and leading the Holly Messer Real Estate Group, I get to combine my love for people, my knowledge of my community, and my passion for helping others build their dream lives.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not at all! But I see every challenge as growth. Switching careers with a young family wasn’t easy and I juggled late nights, early mornings, and plenty of days where I wondered if I’d bitten off more than I could chew. The South Bay real estate market is highly competitive, and establishing myself as a Manhattan Beach Realtor in the luxury space took resilience and a lot of hustle.

There were definitely times I struggled to find the right balance, but I learned to focus on what really matters and let go of what doesn’t. One thing I truly believe is that setbacks are just opportunities to reset and realign. Every challenge has taught me something, and that’s what keeps me moving forward.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
At the Holly Messer Real Estate Group, we specialize in luxury real estate in Manhattan Beach and the surrounding South Bay area. What sets us apart is our client-focused approach. It’s not just about buying or selling homes, it’s about helping people navigate one of the most important decisions in their lives with empathy and confidence.

I’m incredibly proud to have a women-owned business, and to work alongside my amazing team. Our knowledge of luxury real estate in the South Bay market, paired with the innovative tools and flexibility of eXp Realty, allows us to offer a service that feels personal but also highly professional. It’s about building trust, delivering results, and making the process seamless for our clients.

One thing I want readers to know about Holly Messer Real Estate Group is that it’s more than just a transaction, it’s about creating a partnership. Whether it’s finding a first home, upgrading to your dream home, or selling a property that holds years of memories, we’re here to guide you every step of the way.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
If you’re just starting out, my biggest piece of advice is to stay curious and adaptable. You don’t have to have it all figured out from day one and there’s no “perfect” way to do this. Focus on building relationships, stay open to learning, and don’t be afraid to change if something isn’t working.

When I first started, I wish I’d known how important it is to invest in yourself. Whether it’s professional development, better tools, or just giving yourself the grace to rest, you have to prioritize your growth and well-being. The other thing? Never underestimate the power of showing up. Resilience, hard work, and being authentically yourself will take you further than any shortcut ever could.
