Today we’d like to introduce you to Erik Bugarin
Hi ERIK, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My logistics journey began in 2009 after I graduated from high school. I had a job unloading ocean containers that came from overseas in a warehouse in Gardena. It was here where I discovered my passion for logistics and transportation. After 3 years at that warehouse, I moved onto other roles in the industry until I decided to open Comex Logistics with my wife Ana Lopez.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The biggest struggle is getting your foot in the door with potential customers. Importers and exporters tend to stick with one freight forwarder. To earn the opportunity to work with someone new is very challenging.
As you know, we’re big fans of Comex Logistics LLC. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Comex Logistics LLC is an LA-based freight forwarder that offers import and export services in the U.S. and worldwide. This includes ocean freight, container drayage, and warehousing services. Comex specializes in shipping refrigerated cargo such as seafood, and dry cargo such as fitness equipment and machinery. We pride ourselves in exceeding our customer’s expectations and turning the complexities of logistics into something simple for first-time importers, exporters, and industry veterans alike.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson is to be honest and transparent with your customers. Own your mistakes, and deliver on your the promises you make.
