Inspiring Conversations with Dung Nguyen of A&B Nails

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dung Nguyen.

Dung, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I came to the U.S. from Vietnam as a first-generation immigrant, hoping to build a better life and future for my family. My wife has always loved doing nails and dreamed of one day having her own place where she could work, create, and connect with people. I spent many years working and doing what I could to support that dream. After retiring a few years ago, we finally decided it was time to make it happen. We opened our shop just over two years ago, and it’s been amazing to see our dream come to life.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Starting out was tough, business was slow, and we’ve struggled to get our name out there. There are so many nail salons around, and finding ways to stand out and reach new customers has been a challenge. We’re still learning about advertising and how to connect with more people. We also know that getting your nails done is a little self-care treat, and with the economy the way it is, that can be tough for some.

But we haven’t given up. We believe that with hard work, kindness, and genuine care for our customers, things will continue to grow. Every person who walks through our doors means so much to us. It’s been a journey full of ups and downs, but we’re grateful for how far we’ve come and excited for what’s ahead.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
We’re a local nail salon that offers a little bit of everything: manicures, pedicures, dipping powder, Gel-X, eyelash services, waxing, and facials. But what really makes us special isn’t just what we do, it’s how we do it.

We treat every customer like family. Our goal is to make you feel welcome, comfortable, and cared for the moment you walk in. We take pride in our kindness, cleanliness, and the quality of our work, and we truly value the connections we make with each person who visits us.

We’re here for everyone, adults, kids, men, women, and seniors, because self-care is for everyone. Whether you’re stopping by to treat yourself or just need a little time to relax, we’re grateful to be a part of your day.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The biggest lesson we’ve learned is that success takes time, patience, and heart. Nothing happens overnight. It’s about showing up every day, doing your best, and treating people with kindness no matter what. We’ve learned that even when things get tough, staying positive and believing in what you’re doing makes all the difference.

We’ve also realized how important community really is. Every customer who walks in, every kind word, every bit of support. Family is also important, as they have been very supportive in helping this vision come to life.
