Today we’d like to introduce you to Christina Taylor
Hi CHRISTINA, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Christina has been working at Color Me Mine for almost seven years. While her role in Franchise Development is identifying owner candidates and setting them up for a potential ownership journey, her husband’s interest peaked about having his own studio. Together they opened the El Segundo Color Me Mine studio in April of 2024 at the Works in El Segundo.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. As with any new business, there are bumps. Whether it was issues with time constraints, or personal obstacles, those moments tested patience and perseverance especially as a couple and now adding in work partners. Staying in line with overheard has been an eye opener. But those struggles also became important learning experiences, pushing us to adapt and grow.
As you know, we’re big fans of Color Me Mine . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Color Me Mine is the premiere paint-your-own-pottery franchise. Since 1991, Color Me Mine has been a creative space where guests can select from over 100’s of pottery pieces (such as mugs, plates, bowls, home decor, planters, kids, etc) and paint to their liking.
Our studio supplies the brushes, paints, and a myriad of tools to enhance your piece. We glaze and fire on site make the design permanent and food safe. It’s a fun, hands-on activity that’s perfect for individuals, dates, work team builds, mom groups, and families. Color Me Mine is also a great birthday party destination as we host private and in-studio parties across all ages. We also host regular sip and paint and bingo evenings.
We encourage you to put down the screens, and experience the art of having fun!
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
Our close friends, Bryce and Andrew Gawdun, are experienced small business owners based in nearby Hermosa Beach. As the owners of Curious…, they have played a key role in offering guidance on both the wins and challenges that come with running a small business.
