Today we’d like to introduce you to Brenda Nguyen.
Hi Brenda, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Our school began in 1960 when a group of church member families stated a two room school with an upper grade (4th-8th)) and lower grade class (1st-3 rd).
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Education is never a smooth road, but through years, and more recently since COVID, we have been very stable and successful. Our small school was able to remain open during the pandemic, new families joined us through word of mouth, and we continue to thrive today after 65 years of keeping on in love, perseverance and education.
We’ve been impressed with Hope Lutheran School, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are a Christ-centered school that provides quality Christian Education. Our passionate teachers inspire students with exciting experiences and active learning. Students will grow in their faith and know Christ as their Lord and Savior.
Students will learn to communicate effectively through various modalities using critical thinking, understanding, and empathy. Students will learn to strategize and use creative solutions to solve different challenges while learning to persevere in their learning and become lifelong learners.
Students thrive in our small class sizes. Students benefit from personal and individualized attention from our caring and dedicated teachers.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Children learn best when they are known and loved.
