Inspiring Conversations with Bill Henry of Living Step Solutions

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bill Henry.

Hi Bill, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I spent nearly forty years in the wine and spirits industry — a career that took me around the world, but also deeper into a lifestyle that eventually caught up with me. After decades of professional success, my drinking nearly cost me my life. In 2024, I received a liver transplant, and that experience changed everything — my priorities, my perspective, and ultimately my purpose.

Recovery began as survival, but it became a complete transformation. What started as my personal healing evolved into a calling to help others rebuild and move forward. That led to the creation of Living Step Solutions, where I now work as a Life Coach, Recovery Coach, and Certified Peer Support Specialist. I help people rediscover their values, find structure, and take meaningful steps toward the life they want.

Today, my mission is simple: to help others move forward — whether they’re recovering from addiction, finding purpose after hardship, or just ready to live more intentionally. Every day I get to watch people trade survival for growth, and that’s the most rewarding work I’ve ever known.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road — but I’ve come to believe that every challenge along the way has been part of a larger plan. This work feels like a true calling from my Higher Power, and that belief keeps me grounded when things get tough.

Staying sober is never easy for anyone in recovery, but I live with an added layer of gratitude — I’m alive today because of a liver transplant. Every day, I pause several times to pray for the family who lost someone and for the soul of the person whose liver became mine. That gift of life reminds me daily that I have a responsibility to honor it by doing something meaningful.

One of the biggest professional challenges has been helping people understand what coaching really is — that it’s not motivational hype or therapy. It’s structured, compassionate work focused on values, accountability, and action. Coaching is about helping people find their own path forward — not telling them what it should look like. Good coaching asks questions; it doesn’t give advice.

As you know, we’re big fans of Living Step Solutions . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Living Step Solutions is built around one simple mission: helping people move forward — one intentional step at a time. I specialize in working with people who are in transition — whether that’s recovery, career change, rebuilding after loss, or simply feeling stuck. My role is to help them create a more rewarding life built on their own core values, not someone else’s definition of success.

I’m known for listening deeply and helping clients find creative, realistic ways to take action. What sets Living Step Solutions apart is our coaching framework: Core Step → Goal Step → Action Step → Next Step. It’s a structured, practical process that turns insight into progress — one step at a time.

All coaching sessions are conducted by video, with mobile support available to make the process accessible and consistent. I also publish two free digital resources — the Sober Step Journal and the Coaching Quarterly — which share reflections, tools, and real-life stories that encourage growth and gratitude.

On the brand side, I’m proud that Living Step Solutions reflects both purpose and personality. Our logo — a rising sun over water paired with a whale tail — carries deep meaning. The whale tail is a symbol of good luck, protection, strength, wisdom, and forward momentum. On a personal note, it also represents special time spent underwater with my wife while scuba diving — moments that remind me how beautiful it is to breathe deeply and move forward.

At its heart, Living Step Solutions is about transformation — not in theory, but in action.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Well, no one would ever guess that I was in an all-male bell choir for over a decade. It’s true — robes, rehearsals, and all. Some of my longest friendships were formed praising God and making music with friends. But the real thing most people don’t know about me is how much I love Sylvester Stallone — especially Rocky.

That probably doesn’t sound unusual — a lot of people love Rocky. But what inspires me isn’t the boxing. It’s the love story. Rocky’s real victory wasn’t in the ring; it was believing that he could build a life with Adrian — that he was worthy of love. That was his core value. Every small act — buying the turtles, picking up the food, dropping in with a corny joke — those were his next steps toward that value.

And then the part most people miss: he doesn’t even win the fight. The fight was background. The story’s about knowing who you are, what matters most, and living that truth no matter what the scoreboard says. To me, that’s the real victory — and it’s the same message I try to bring into my coaching every day.
