Today we’d like to introduce you to Alesia Aleksandrova.
Hi Alesia, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I was born and raised in Moscow, Russia—a city of tradition, elegance, and rich history. My early years were filled with structure and a deep cultural appreciation for beauty and refinement. But I always carried with me a desire to explore more, to live in a space where creativity and possibility felt endless. That’s what led me to Los Angeles. I moved here 14 years ago, and from the moment I arrived, I knew it was my favorite place.
My first business, VEDA, is a wellness center that came from a personal longing for balance. I wanted to create a place where people could slow down, reconnect with themselves, and experience healing in a thoughtful, beautiful space. Wellness, to me, isn’t just about treatments—it’s about intention. VEDA is my way of offering others a moment of peace in a fast-paced world.
At VEDA, we offer a full range of Ayurvedic therapies, designed to restore balance and awaken the body’s natural intelligence. Whether it’s through warm oil abhyanga massages, detoxifying treatments, or customized wellness rituals, each session is crafted with care, tradition, and purpose.
In addition to Ayurveda, we’ve brought in powerful global techniques like Brazilian lymphatic massage —known for its sculpting and detoxifying effects.
Japanese head spa ,a deeply calming experience that stimulates the scalp, soothes the nervous system, and leaves you feeling mentally clear and physically refreshed.
Acupuncture – is an ancient healing practice that involves inserting very thin needles into specific points on the body to restore balance, relieve pain, reduce stress, and support overall wellness. It works by stimulating the body’s natural energy pathways, promoting circulation, and calming the nervous system.
Visceral Manipulation is a gentle, hands-on therapy that focuses on the internal organs—such as the liver, kidneys, intestines, and bladder—and their surrounding connective tissue. By using precise, subtle manual techniques, a practitioner encourages normal mobility, tone, and motion of the organs and their ligaments. This therapy can support digestion, reduce chronic pain, improve posture, and enhance overall well-being.
Craniosacral Therapy is a deeply calming modality that works with the rhythmic pulse of cerebrospinal fluid surrounding the brain and spinal cord. Through light, therapeutic touch—often no more than the weight of a nickel—a practitioner detects and releases tension held in the central nervous system. This gentle technique helps to improve the function of the brain, spine, and entire nervous system. Craniosacral Therapy is especially supportive for stress, anxiety, migraines, insomnia, trauma recovery, and nervous system regulation.
Soon after, with my business partner Lala, we launched Charcuterie LA, an upscale charcuterie and grazing table business. What began as a creative outlet turned into a full-scale brand that now services events and gatherings across the city. I love how food can bring people together, tell a story, and elevate an experience—all while staying deeply personal and expressive.
Now, I’m working on my next chapter: Gooseberry Goods, an organic grocery delivery concept. This business is about transforming daily routines into something more considered and curated. I want people to feel like even their most ordinary moments—like unpacking groceries—can be filled with care, quality, and joy.
Each of my businesses reflects a different part of me, but they all share the same foundation: purpose, elegance, and a deep respect for experience. I believe in building things that last—things that make people feel more grounded, more inspired, and more themselves.
From Moscow to Los Angeles, my journey has been about more than geography. It’s been about becoming. And I’m still in the process—still creating, still growing, and always dreaming of what’s next.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As an immigrant building a life and multiple businesses in Los Angeles, the journey hasn’t always been easy. Navigating a new culture, language, and unfamiliar systems while trying to establish myself professionally came with its own set of challenges—especially in an incredibly competitive city like LA. There were moments of doubt, financial risk, and the constant pressure to prove myself. But those obstacles also shaped my resilience. They pushed me to adapt, to stay creative, and to lead with purpose. Every challenge became a lesson in perseverance, and today, I carry a deeper sense of pride in what I’ve built—not just as a business owner, but as someone who created a meaningful life from the ground up.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
I’m drawn to books that explore the intricate connection between the mind and body—especially those focused on self-help, brain function, psychology, hormones, and the body’s natural systems. I love learning how the body works, how emotions shape our biology, and how small, conscious changes can bring us back into balance. Whether it’s neuroscience, holistic health, or psychology, I’m always seeking knowledge that empowers deeper self-awareness and healing.
I love to read and I keep a list of all my books I’ve read every year. I mark my favorite books of the year, so it’s easy to tell. Recent favorite books are
“Awareness” by Anthony de Mello, “When breath becomes air” by Paul Kalanithi and “ Hell yeah or no” by Derek Sivers.
A few of my favorite books from previous years are “Psycho- Cybernetics” by Maxwell Maltz, “ The big questions of life” by Om Swami , “Quantum Psychology” by Robert Anton Wilson.
My favorite authors are
Malcolm Gladwell, Robert Greene and Bernard Werber.
