Inspiring Conversations with Adrienne Nicole Edwards of ANE Foundation

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adrienne Nicole Edwards.

Hi Adrienne Nicole, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
The ANE Foundation was born out of compassion and a simple desire to help. It started when an unhoused friend mentioned being hungry and having nowhere to go for Thanksgiving. That moment sparked a realization there were so many others in the same situation, and something needed to be done.
Adrienne reached out to a local chef who had access to a private kitchen. What began as an idea to prepare one meal quickly grew into something bigger. The chef suggested hosting a buffet-style event to feed more people and offered a location where they could also prepare plates to distribute in Skid Row.
That first event was a success and the beginning of a lasting mission. What started as a single act of kindness has now become a movement. Thirteen years later (ten years officially), the ANE Foundation has expanded far beyond serving meals. Today, it provides ongoing support, resources, and hope to those in need including individuals experiencing homelessness, disaster victims, and low-income families across the community.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road. One of the biggest challenges has been working with homeless clients who aren’t ready for change, even when help and resources are available. For many of our chronically unhoused clients, homelessness has become more than just a circumstance; it’s become a way of life. Reintroducing someone to stability after years on the streets takes patience, compassion, and consistency. It’s not just about giving them resources, it’s about rebuilding trust and helping them believe that change is possible.
Another ongoing challenge is the constant demand for resources. Everyday essentials like food, toilet paper, soap, sanitary care, and baby items run out so quickly because the need never stops. It can be difficult to keep up, but we do everything we can to ensure that no one is turned away without the basics they need to maintain dignity and comfort.
Through all the struggles, though, we’ve learned that small, consistent acts of service make a lasting difference and that even when it’s hard, the work is always worth it.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about ANE Foundation?
The ANE Foundation is a community based nonprofit organization dedicated to serving individuals and families in need, including the homeless, veterans, low-income families, and victims of natural disasters. Our mission is simple but powerful: to provide hope, resources, and consistent support to those who need it most.
We specialize in crisis care and meeting everyday needs from hot meals, hygiene items, clothing, and baby essentials, to community outreach, resource connections, and disaster relief support. What truly sets us apart is our hands on, heartled approach. We don’t just distribute items; we build relationships. We take time to listen, connect, and make people feel seen, valued, and cared for.
We’re most proud of the fact that our work has remained consistent and compassionate for over a decade. What started with one meal has grown into an organization serving thousands across Los Angeles and beyond. Even through challenges, our dedication to the community has never wavered.
What I want readers to know about ANE Foundation is that we’re not just an organization we’re a movement of love in action. Every meal served, every care package handed out, and every act of kindness shared is part of our commitment to restoring hope and dignity.
Our goal is to remind people that they are not forgotten and that together, we can make a difference, one person at a time.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
The quality I believe has been most important to my success and to the success of the ANE Foundation is consistency with compassion. No matter the challenge, we’ve always shown up for our community with love, faith, and the same dedication we started with years ago.
It’s easy to do the work when everything is going smoothly, but true success comes from continuing to serve even when it’s hard when resources are low, when the need feels endless, or when progress comes one person at a time. That unwavering commitment has built trust within the community and shown people that we’re here to stay.
I also believe empathy plays a huge role. We don’t just see statistics; we see people, each with a name, a story, and a need for dignity. Leading with empathy has shaped how we serve, how we partner, and how we grow.
At the end of the day, compassion, consistency, and faith are the heart of everything we do. Those qualities have carried us from one act of kindness to a citywide movement of hope and service.
