Hi Windy, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Bra Garden was founded due to the incredible importance of maintaining proper breast health. Owner, Windy Bess, has assisted in multiple surgeries over the past eighteen years and has witnessed first-hand the detriment of not having adequate support. In the operating room, it has been observed that cancer does not discriminate against age, seeing breast cancer patients arriving younger and younger. Bra Garden strives to educate women on how to achieve and keep breast tissue as healthy as possible. Everybody is different. Matching a properly fitting garment to them must include a wide range of sizes and styles. Bra Garden is one of the very few shops that carry the complete size range 28-56 band AA-Q cup. After a professional fitting from a certified bra fit specialist, the appropriate garments are found and made available.
Although Bra Garden carries necessary post-surgical and mastectomy items, including compression bras, drain pouches, and breast prosthesis, it is not limited solely to that. A variety of bras, such as sport, strapless, wired and wire-free, lounge, bralettes, t-shirts, bra alternatives, panties, shapewear, and bathing suits, are available for all ages.
It is unfortunate how little most women know about their breast health. Bra Garden helps by teaching during bra fit appointments, hosting episodes of Breast Talk (which can be found on YouTube @bragardenhb), working closely with the Huntington Beach Chamber of Commerce, and speaking to ladies’ groups throughout the community.
Each employee of Bra Garden shares the same passion in helping women. Being a mother of four, three of whom are girls, a previous Girl Scout leader, a surgical technologist, and a woman, Windy is very selective in who works in the shop. The importance of comfort, discretion, compassion, and assistance is always held to the highest standard. It is appreciated that women take time out of their busy lives to visit us, and the appreciation is shared after achieving much necessary support.
Bra Garden continues to work hard in educating and supporting the community in proper breast health.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Small business always has its struggles. Relocation from Fountain Valley to Huntington Beach has been wonderful but presented its own challenges. Bra Garden has been working diligently in notifying the surrounding area of the move. In addition, teaching the services provided as well as the products available at the shop. Bra Garden is now located at 15077 Goldenwest Street, Huntington Beach, CA 92647.
This is right off the 405 freeway on the corner of Goldenwest and Bolsa, near Rodrigo’s. Although the shopping center is currently under construction, the excitement is growing as the new look is being unveiled!

Bra Garden is more than just a bra shop! Ongoing community involvement lies within the core of our mission to help support women. You will find us out there in many ways… Bra Garden hosts an annual team to participate in the Susan G. Komen More Than Pink Walk in Newport Beach to help in the fight against breast cancer. Episodes of our educational sessions called Breast Talk can be found on YouTube @bragardenhb. Originating in 2023, Breast Talk explores a variety of breast-related topics to help educate our viewers. We believe in giving back to the community, so we are happy to assist in bra donations going to our local women and children’s shelters. In addition, we bring the support to a personal level. All bra fit specialists at Bra Garden are certified in mastectomy fitting. Every customer is fit during an appointment to achieve the best match possible. The fitting is complimentary for all of our customers. The importance of a proper garment should not be ignored since it helps with posture, neck and back pain, skin irritation, and adequate blood flow within the breast tissue. Bra Garden is different because the full-size range is available 28-56 band, AA-Q cup, so nobody has to squeeze into an ill-fitting bra! The prices are found in the mid-range, about $30-$85 for most bras. Breast prosthesis vary depending on type. Although a higher price point would be easily obtainable, we want to keep our products manageable for the everyday woman.
A variety of other items are found in the shop as well, including garment laundry bags, delicate wash, body tape, backless bra options, breast inserts, shoulder strap holders, and more!

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out.
Time and stress management! Owning a small business is like taking the roller coaster of life and adding endless loops. There are highs and lows with every aspect, but it is imperative to find a healthy middle ground. The tasks and responsibilities are never-ending, so my advice would be to delegate when possible and schedule personal time off. If your health and personal life decline due to overworking, then what are you working so hard for?
