Hidden Gems: Meet Sierra Pettway of Blessed Jamaican Cuisine

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sierra Pettway

Hi Sierra, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Our story began in November 2008, when Robert Smith and our Head Chef, Shawn—also known as “Blessed”—joined forces to create a unique dining experience. Originally from Kingston, Jamaica, Shawn was inspired to become a chef while cooking alongside his mother and older sisters. Over the past 15 years in Inglewood, CA, we’ve been grateful to serve our local community and recently experienced exciting growth in our customer base, thanks to the three stadiums located right on Prairie. It has been a true blessing to connect with so many people through our food!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Marketing and visibility are crucial for small businesses, which need to attract customers and build brand recognition in competitive markets. Limited budgets can restrict traditional advertising options, making it challenging to reach a wider audience. However, social media has revolutionized this landscape by providing cost-effective platforms for engagement and promotion. Through organic content and direct interaction with customers, we have been able to enhance our visibility and build a loyal community. Social media not only enables creative storytelling but also facilitates real-time feedback, allowing us to be featured on major platforms such as LATryGuy and How.Kev.Eats. Follow us @blessedjamaicancuisine.
