Hidden Gems: Meet Samantha Rosenberg of Slumber Squad

Today we’d like to introduce you to Samantha Rosenberg.

Hi Samantha, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Before starting Slumber Squad, I worked as a hairstylist in film and television. It was an intense and unpredictable career, and while it taught me a lot about discipline and adaptability, it never felt like my true calling. When the pandemic hit and production work came to a halt, I suddenly found myself at a crossroads. Around that same time, I found out I was pregnant, which completely shifted my perspective and priorities.

As I started preparing for motherhood, I began to deep dive into all things parenting. That’s when I discovered an entire world I didn’t even know existed, sleep consultants. I was fascinated by the idea that something as essential as sleep could be taught, supported, and transformed through science and empathy. I decided to explore it further and joined a company as a client to see if it was something I’d truly enjoy.

Truthfully, I fell in love with it. Helping families find rest and confidence felt deeply fulfilling in a way I had never experienced before. After having my son, who was by far the worst sleeper in history, I knew without a doubt that this was the work I wanted to dedicate myself to.

But my journey wasn’t without hardship. I hired a sleep consultant to help with my son’s sleep, and unfortunately, it was one of the most difficult experiences I’ve had as a parent. I was given the wrong advice and was never encouraged to explore possible medical complexities, which, as it turned out, he had. Instead of being supported, I was made to feel like it was my fault that he wasn’t sleeping. That experience broke me, but it also became the turning point in how I wanted to approach this work. I knew there had to be a different way, one rooted in compassion, education, and understanding. I knew I never wanted another parent to feel the way I did.

I spent five years with that same company and eventually became the only certified sleep consultant on staff. I pursued additional certifications in neurodivergent sleep and supporting medically complex children, which opened my eyes even more to how diverse and nuanced sleep challenges can be. I learned that no two families are alike and that real progress comes from meeting families exactly where they are.

From there, Slumber Squad was born, a place built on compassion, evidence-based practice, and the belief that every family deserves sleep, support, and peace of mind. My mission is simple: to help parents feel seen, heard, and empowered, and to make sure no one ever walks this journey feeling alone or blamed for doing their best.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. There are difficulties with most things in life, and building a business in the parenting space is no exception. While COVID created a boom in the sleep consulting industry, when families were home, exhausted, and searching for support, the post-pandemic landscape looks very different. Platforms like TikTok and Instagram have completely shifted the conversation. Everyone is suddenly an “expert,” and advice spreads faster than ever, whether it’s accurate or not.

We’ve also seen a major cultural swing, from the era of gentle parenting to what I like to call the FAFO movement, where parents are told to be “tougher,” “stricter,” or “less responsive.” I think this pendulum swing has left a lot of families confused about what’s actually right for their child.

One of the biggest misconceptions I’ve had to navigate is the belief that sleep training automatically means “crying it out.” That couldn’t be further from the truth. There are so many gentle, responsive, and developmentally appropriate ways to teach healthy sleep without leaving a child to cry alone. A big part of my work has been helping parents unlearn the guilt, fear, and misinformation they’ve absorbed online, and showing them that sleep support can be compassionate, science-based, and incredibly effective.

The road hasn’t been easy, but it’s been worth every challenge.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
At Slumber Squad, we specialize in helping families navigate one of the most universal, and exhausting, challenges of parenthood: sleep. We work with children from birth through early childhood, including neurodivergent kids and those with medical complexities, to create customized sleep solutions that are as compassionate as they are effective.

What makes Slumber Squad different is that we don’t believe in one-size-fits-all methods or rigid programs. Every plan we design is tailored to the child’s temperament, developmental stage, and family dynamics. We focus on consistency, connection, and evidence-based strategies that meet families where they are, emotionally and practically. I like to think of it as a blend of science and heart.

I’m most proud of how the brand has evolved into something parents truly trust. Families come to us not just for schedules or routines, but for the empathy, understanding, and support that comes with it. Many of my clients have worked with other consultants or tried to follow conflicting advice online, and they tell me they feel seen for the first time here. That’s what I’m proudest of, creating a brand that makes parents exhale and say, “Okay, someone finally gets it.”

Our offerings range from one-on-one sleep packages to digital guides, classes, and resources for parents who want to learn at their own pace. I also provide specialized programs for children with sensory needs, medical conditions, or developmental differences, because sleep support shouldn’t only be accessible to the “easy” kids.

What I want readers to know most about Slumber Squad is that this isn’t about perfection, it’s about progress. It’s about helping families find predictability, peace, and confidence again. Sleep doesn’t have to feel impossible, and you don’t have to do it alone.

What are your plans for the future?
Looking ahead, my vision for Slumber Squad is to expand our impact while staying deeply personal in the way we support families. Right now, we’re developing more on-demand resources, like workshops, to make high-quality sleep support more accessible to parents who can’t always book one-on-one services.

I’m also working on building partnerships with childcare centers, pediatric practices, and other family-focused organizations so that more parents can receive reliable sleep education before things become overwhelming. Another exciting area is growing our specialized programs for neurodivergent children and those with medical complexities, something very few sleep consultants are truly trained for but that families desperately need.

Long term, I’d love to launch a podcast and a membership-based community that allows parents to get ongoing guidance and feel less alone in the process. Ultimately, my goal is to create a hub where parents feel empowered, supported, and educated, without judgment, while still keeping the human, compassionate touch that makes Slumber Squad unique.
