Hidden Gems: Meet Pranav Kulkarni of Strachey Consulting Group

Today we’d like to introduce you to Pranav Kulkarni.

Pranav Kulkarni

Hi Pranav, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I started my entrepreneurial journey with my background in math research, specifically in optimization, where I looked to solve problems related to creating efficiencies in current systems. I worked in areas such as energy grid optimization, route optimization, the defense industry, and more – giving me experience from both an academic and industry standpoint. This experience led me to focus on building tangible products that could be applied across industries to create a market impact – such as my work in the solar and agriculture spaces. Currently, I am focused on the operations and strategy side of my companies and on expanding ventures to other markets.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
While it has been a fairly smooth journey overall, I have faced several setbacks along the way, including delays in my research timelines, venture capital challenges, operational issues, and more. I learned from all of these struggles to reach the point where I am today and apply the lessons to my future endeavors – regardless of the industry or market.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Strachey Consulting Group (SCG) is an international government consulting group that I founded 3 years ago – backed by UN advisors and Intel India. We specialize in data-driven insights for our international clients, specifically in humanitarian affairs. We have a proven approach, being deployed by governments and intergovernmental bodies across 2 countries and impacting 550+ migrants and refugees as of 2023.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc.?
In a work setting, reading research papers (specifically novel research in business, finance, or mathematics) helps inspire me with new ideas and approaches to tackle operational challenges.
