Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Meadow Love.
Hi Michelle Meadow, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was adopted as a one month old baby. My birth parents were unwed teens and wanting to give me a better life. I am fortunate to have a Mom and Dad who raised me and birth parents, whom I met at 25 years old and developed a relationship with in my life. Growing up, I did not have family health/medical history and spent a lot of time navigating physical pain and unexplained illness. As an active child and teen, I suffered from debilitating cramps in my feet and legs, mostly when swimming and walking and sometimes during sleep. There were many unexplained sicknesses, allergies, sinus infections, multiple strep infections, sleep problems and mental health concerns. I spent many hours doctoring, having blood drawn for tests, getting weekly allergy shots, and trying different protocols and treatments for recurring symptoms and new ones that popped up regularly. Nothing seemed connected, yet there were multiple issues that were keeping me from feeling well. I would often say in exhaustion, I just want to “be well” versus always being sick. During college, I was introduced to meditation and yoga.
For short periods of time, I felt some relief. These brief glimpses of calm and wellness did not last long, but they kept me coming back for more over the years. At the same time, many more symptoms and disease was keeping me from living my best life. As an athlete, I was usually active swimming, biking, hiking, walking, weight training, yet there were many bouts of time that my legs were weak, my energy low and my strength unpredictable. It felt as if the periods of time were becoming more often than the alternative of feeling being my on the go myself. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in December of 1994 and moved to Santa Barbara, CA before settling into Ventura as my home in 2001. While in Santa Barbara, I studied education and received a graduate degree and cross-cultural teaching credential, as well as becoming a certified personal trainer and fitness instructor. I was practicing some yoga asana and teaching my kindergarteners yoga as well. During this time, I continued to suffer physically and it was taking a toll on my mental/emotional health as well. I wasn’t practicing asana often but had continued with meditation and intuitively knew something was not right.
Over the years, I made numerous visits to the Emergency room for unexplained illnesses, life-altering symptoms and sudden onset of vomiting, migraines, blurred vision and other scary to me episodes. More and more tests and numerous doctor visits, still no conclusive answers. It was a rollercoaster and I was in a cycle for years that was full of numerous ups and downs and many doctors not sure what to do. In 2002, pregnant with my first daughter, I was put on bed rest in my third trimester, as I was rapidly gaining weight (almost 20 pounds in 4 days), losing my eyesight, weakness in my legs was preventing me from walking and standing, and excessive inflammation. Labor, delivery and birth all went well and we were blessed with a healthy child. However, by her five months well visit, things had changed and we were being told she was “failure to thrive” for lack of any other answers for her sudden halt in growth and gaining weight. She continued to struggle with sickness, fevers, and other health issues as she grew into a school aged child. During this time, my health yo-yo’d, stress was wrecking havoc and I was not sleeping well, yet I lost the pregnancy weight (almost 90 pounds) and was blessed to be pregnant again. The second pregnancy, labor and delivery were much different, went smoothly and we had another daughter. I was still having numerous unexplained symptoms and disease while being a new mom and adjusting to parenting.
During this time, I was also involved in a couple of serious car accidents and was dealing with long term repercussions from those incidents as well. In 2005, a few months after the birth of my second child, I was broadsided and ended up having surgery on my lower back the following year. The stress of that accident and change in my hormones from pregnancy, on top of lifelong misdiagnosis sent me into a tailspin and decline in health and wellness that I was struggling to overcome. There were numerous obstacles, long periods of time spent in pain and immobilized and a lot of questioning my own sanity as I continued to get sicker and sicker. I was now struggling neurologically and losing hope. The medical system was failing me and I started to seek alternative healing modalities. I was desperate to find answers as to what was happening. My oldest was also suffering with periods of high fevers and flu-like symptoms; weekly, four or five days of feeling well then four or five days very ill. Finally in 2011, after multiple dead ends, I tested positive on the specific DNA strands for Lyme disease, Babesia and Bartonella and a few months later so did my daughters.
The treatment protocols began and our journey to health slowly progressed. We began detoxing and holistically treating our symptoms and getting to the root cause of our imbalances. It was a long journey, each individual responds differently and there is not a one size fits all protocol for treating Lyme and co-infections. Ultimately for me, it was filing for divorce, using full extract cannabis oil, yoga, meditation, sound healing and reiki that supported me in turning the corner and getting my life back. As this was happening, I continued to release what was not in alignment with my healing and shifted my life accordingly. I became a certified yoga instructor, Karuna, Usui and Tibetan Reiki Master Teacher, sound healing practitioner and began to create a career in the healing arts and away from public education. In 2017, I sold our home and we moved closer to the beach, with ocean and sunset views. This was one of the best decisions I had made in pursuing the things that bring me joy! I also created Be Well Healing -integrative healing arts-to support others on their journey to wellness and alternative modalities of healing.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely has not been easy, but everything has lead me here. I believe I am always exactly where I need to be or I would be elsewhere. I have been building the foundations of Be Well Healing for many years and am more equipped to hold space for others; as they step into their personal power and create their lives from a place of alignment and an open heart. I am grateful for each challenge that brought me deeper clarity and understanding of myself and what does not work for me. I never imagined myself as a business owner, the creator of my life, and having the privilege to help others do the same and now I can not imagine doing anything else.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Be Well Healing was created while teaching yoga locally and beginning to incorporate aspects of Reiki and sound healing into the classes. Wanting to dive deeper into the other limbs of yoga and Shamanic studies, I stopped teaching public classes at the end of 2018 and shifted the focus to sharing healing circles, workshops, sound bathes, private healing sessions and ceremony- creating intuitively designed experiences for deeper inner transformation, These experiences include intention, crystal grid work, plant medicine and aromatherapy, breathwork, guided meditation, chanting, journaling, oracle/tarot card readings and channeling, hands on healing and a more intimate exchange of energy between one another. During this time, Sunset Sound Bath was created as a donation-based community sound healing experience in Cemetery Park, in Ventura, overlooking the Pacific ocean and the setting sun.
On the last Sunday of the month just prior to sunset during the golden hour, friends and family gather in the grass, under the trees and the golden light energy of the setting sun to receive the vibrational healing of the gongs, singing bowls, medicine drums, chimes, shakers and other sound instruments, all of which are infused with Reiki healing as well. Michelle also provides private healing sessions in person and remotely; individualized for deep healing and integration of the higher vibrational energies, Reiki, sound, breath, meditation, yoga; as well as incorporating aromatherapy and crystal healing into the sessions. Private and small group sound bathes, gong bathes, and blessings are another popular way to bring the healing energies into the home, business or other spaces that have significance or are in need of energetic cleansing and/or infusion of healing love and light. Clients can have intuitively designed Reiki and shamanic infused personalized sound healing recording made to listen to at their leisure. Michelle offers in person and distance Reiki infused yoga sessions with sound healing. Animal Reiki can also be administered in person or remotely.
During 2020, Michelle published over one hundred guided meditations and sound healings on Insight Timer app; a free app with thousands of recorded meditations from teachers all over the world. She created the Sound Sanctuary to continue recording and offers monthly live events on the Insight Timer app including; Sunday Sounds, Full Moon Release Sound Bath, New Moon Gong Yoga Nidra and other special live events celebrating the seasons. Anyone can join and listen from the comforts of home, their workplace or car. All the events are free. Michelle also hosts Live Sound Healing experiences on Facebook, Instagram and Youtube and you can find unreleased music on SoundCloud as well for free. We believe the combination of these modalities supports healing in ways conventional medicine cannot. Michelle is committed to making these ancient healing modality accessible and affordable for all who are interested in exploring. Amplifying the healing with intention and frequency takes healing to another level worth exploring on an individualized basis.
How do you define success?
Living my life in alignment with what brings me joy. Waking each day with the enthusiasm and excitement that I love what I do and to what I do. Creating a life of freedom to choose when, where and how I spend my energy and time. Living the dream. Being me. I am blessed to live in abundance and with a deep knowing I am guided and protected while anchored in abundance and gratitude. This is freedom and to me the definition of success.
