Hidden Gems: Meet Michael Lin of Mannies of L.A.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Lin.

Hi Michael, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Michael, the owner of Mannies of LA has worked with children of all different ages in many different capacities. He’s been a camp counselor, a private tutor, an athletic coach, a caretaker, an one-on-one specialist, and an established private school teacher. During these years, Michael has seen first-hand the importance of having a male figure in a child’s life and how a male role model can influence a child’s development pattern. He loves working and shaping the lives of children and will continue to do so for as long as he can. Michael grew up in the beautiful state of Minnesota and attended the University of Minnesota for his undergraduate degree.

After graduating, he moved out to Idyllwild, California to work at AstroCamp, a year round outdoor educational camp. It was there where Michael found his calling as an educator. In 2007, Michael began his teaching career at a private school in Los Angeles. During his time at the private school, Michael attended graduate school at California State Los Angeles and received his M.A. in Early Childhood Development. He also spent two summer at Yale to get trained in a social emotional approach called R.U.L.E.R. The diversity of his background and the experience working with kids as their tennis instructor, tutor, babysitter, basketball coach, artistic school drama director, ed tech teacher, middle school life skills teacher and established developmental kindergarten teacher, provide him with the insight, expertise, and care in being able to work with families and caretakers in matching the needs and skill sets to one another.

As you can see, Michael has a lot of experience working with children and is the perfect person to help you find the perfect nanny or Manny. He knows what it takes.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Yea and no. Just like any path that has not been paved in front of you, you have to do a little work and sometimes it’s bumpier than you want. However, that’s how you develop grit and perseverance. It’s about moving in the right direction even if the path isn’t always straight.
