Today we’d like to introduce you to Masha Rechkunova Goodson.
Hi Masha, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I have always had a desire to heal. Though allopathic, Western medicine, does offer some terrific benefits in emergency situations, taking pharmaceutical medications and relying on surgery is rarely about healing the Mind, Body and Soul. I wanted to pursue more natural, basic, holistic approach to understanding how a human body/Spirit can get better amd more balamced.
I found Naturopathic Medicine. I completed 4 years at National University of Natural Medicine in Portland, OR (one of the olderst naturopathic schools in the country). It was exaclty what I was looking for. At least, it was a good beginning on my quest to get deeper into the Art of Healing.
I have been in my naturopathic practice for 10 years. My practice is open to all ages from infants to seniors.
Over these years I have had a chance to observe healing, recovery, remission from illnesses in many patients. I do spend a lot of time with patients talking about life style choices (food, rest, sleep, movement. time in Nature) as well as naturopathic modalities such as homeopathy, herbalism,. hydrotherapy. We also delve into the metaphysical apsects – how to hear your Soul’s meesage and how to heal using self-healing devine powers within us.
I love what I do. It comes easy to me. I enjoy listening to people’s stories and helping them solve the puzzles – why shall there be some kind of imbalance in their physical body? or mental/emotional states? Together with patients we find natural long-lasting solutions for their health journeys. Patients are happy and so am I!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Having your own business and working for yourself is a blessing!
I do like the independence, flexibility. I am my own boss. I do not have to ask anybody if it is ok for me to take a leave or to offer a patient a specific treatment plan.
As it is my own small business, it entails more creativity on my part. I do have to come up with various ways to let people knwo about what I do and how I do it. I do enjoy this part of my work as well.
I write articles. This year I startred doing podcasts with other healers to discuss different interesting and valuable topics of our modern days.
I am working on developing a more financially smooth practice. Rethinking patients’ care and working on developing packages and more focused conceirge care For example, now I am offering patients 2-3 month packages to have more consistant results. We meet once a week in-person along with continious support through electronic messages to help answer questions from patients.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Dr Masha Naturopathy ?
My naturopathic practice is about a whole person. We talk not only about what we eat, how much we sleep with patients but also why imbalances happen from a more spiritual/metaphysical approach.
Consultations with patients are long. The first visit is 1.5-2 hours. I listen carefully to what a person conveys to me about their symptoms, worries, how they see their healing., etc.
I usually do not use many supplements. As we say in naturopathic medicine “You cannot supplement your way to a healthy living”.
Instead I do try to hear the story of a patient, his/her struggles, patterns. We spend more time dicussing life style, stresses in life, reaction to stress, movement in order to self heal.
I also do offer laboratory and imaging studies to patients if needed.
In my practice I see patients with many different conditions, My specialty is holistic cancer care. helping patients with cancer find natural ways to heal.
What is also dear to my heart is helping couples get pregnant, maintain healthy pregnancies and raise healthy babies. It is special to me due to my own challenges with fertility.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
Being balanced mentally, emotionally and physically.
Being with family, my husband, my children.
Seeing my dear patients feel better and lead more fullfilled lives.
Being in Nature every day or as much as I can.
