Today we’d like to introduce you to Khim Teoh.
Hi Khim, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I am originally from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. My family and I immigrated to the States when I was seventeen years old to seek a better life. With hard work and perseverance, I graduated from UC Irvine with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and minor in Management. I pursued a corporate career initially but quickly realized that it wasn’t for me. I decided to follow in my family’s footsteps of becoming an entrepreneur.
Fast forward twenty years of owning and operating several gift shops in hotels and casinos, my husband and I decided to pursue our dream of sharing the wonderful flavors of Malaysian cuisine by opening our own restaurant we named Seasons Kitchen in Anaheim, CA.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Being an entrepreneur is incredibly challenging because there’s no one to guide you on what to do on a daily basis. Every day is a learning process and I have learned a lot from the mistakes and failures. The key thing is to pick yourself up and keep trying new things, being innovative and being willing to take risks. Some huge challenges in the industry such as the 9/11 tragedy that affected our businesses also taught us to be resilient and willing to adapt to the ever-changing demands of consumers.

Seasons Kitchen USA is the only street food-style Malaysian restaurant in Southern California. We offer the most popular dishes from Malaysia such as our national dish Nasi Lemak, fragrant coconut rice served with chicken curry or beef Rendang. We also have a pantry market offering Indonesian, Malaysian and Singaporean specialty snacks and groceries.
