Hidden Gems: Meet Juriana of Amor and Me Coaching

Today we’d like to introduce you to Juriana.

Hi Juriana, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’m a holistic Latina therapist and Breathwork and Embodiment Coach and have been in the wellness field since 2011. After many years of working in community mental health and in the integrated health care system, I was craving change and freedom.

Going through a global pandemic as a therapist was not easy which pushed me to look beyond supporting people one-on-one and outside of the psychotherapy framework.

So, I started my coaching practice, Amor and Me in 2022, supporting women of color who struggle with having a difficult and challenging relationship with their mothers. I created a private Facebook group where women of color who have a mother wound share their personal experiences, ask for support from the group members, share resources, and have a safe and sacred space to belong.

In 2024, after quitting my 6-figure health care therapist position due to burnout and moral injury from witnessing how the health care system I was working for treated their patients, I decided to make a small pivot in my coaching practice and began supporting successful first generation women of color who were struggling with burnout and feeling unfulfilled in their careers.

But something felt off, I enjoyed working with the women but for the first time in my life, I felt disconnected, lost, and unsure of the impact I was making in my clients lives. I started to question everything in my professional and personal life –this was beyond burnout.

What I was experiencing was a Spiritual Awakening that led me down the path of seeking and sitting with sacred plant medicine where I had the opportunity to reconnect with my Spirit, value the importance of community, and reconnect to nature, which helped me feel more whole and grounded.

This beautiful journey of self discovery, connection, and wholeness has guided me to create sacred and intentional spaces where I incorporate ancestral practices and wisdom into my coaching practice to help women of color transform their mother wounds by releasing generational pain and reconnect with their authentic selves.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My coaching practice has evolved throughout my own healing journey and reconnection to self. When I first started coaching, the focus was primarily to support women with a mother wound. After I quit my health care therapist position, I started coaching women on burnout and finding fulfillment in their careers; but as I mentioned, something was missing.

After my journey with sacred plant medicine, I gained more clarity on what and how I wanted to support women. I decided to stop coaching on career fulfillment and burnout and returned to supporting women with their mother wound but from a holistic perspective.

Incorporating ancestral practices and wisdom that helped me in my own healing journey such as: building connection through a safe and compassionate community, ceremony, connection to nature, breathwork, music, and connection to Spirit. These I believe are essential for overall wellness.

My coaching practice has been a journey of finding the love that lives within me –looking back, the name of my practice is a reflection of where I was when I first started –Amor and Me; hence the idea that we are separate from love (amor); however love is within us. We are love.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Amor and Me Coaching focuses on supporting and empowering woman of color to reclaim their inner strength and wholeness by guiding them through breathwork and transforming mother wounds.

I create safe, intentional spaces rooted in ancestral wisdom and spiritual practices, where woman can release generational pain and reconnect with their authentic selves, and embody the freedom and empowerment they deserve.

What sets Amor and Me coaching apart is that I center my work around working with woman of color by honoring cultural and ancestral experiences which can be overlooked. I create sacred safe and intentional spaces to allow woman to meet parts of themselves that they’ve forgotten, repressed, or suppressed.

I embody the work I do through my own remembering journey and transformation through the help of sacred plant medicine. My work goes beyond individual healing –it’s about liberation of generational pain and reclaiming authentic identity, connection to community, and nature.

The thing that I’m most proud of with my coaching practice is that it has blossomed and unfolded throughout my own personal healing journey. I believe that our biggest struggles can also be our greatest gifts when we have the courage to go within, meet our shadows, and do the work. This has helped me gain the clarity and wisdom on how to support others.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
My vulnerability, courage, and curiosity.
