Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Lopez.
Jessica, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My journey began in 2021 when I made the life-changing decision to leave my full-time job at a dental office and pursue a career in esthetics. At the time, my daughter was just 6–8 months old, and I was balancing life as a new mom while attending school. After graduating, I started offering facials out of a small room that my parents built for me in their home. That’s where everything started—humble beginnings filled with heart and purpose.
Little by little, I began building a clientele, investing in brand trainings, and learning everything I could about skincare and product knowledge. I started growing my presence through Instagram and eventually moved into a solo suite in Rancho Cucamonga. That’s when things really began to take off—but not without challenges. My sister, who had also gone to esthetician school with me, was working at a med spa at the time. She helped me with rent and bills and constantly reminded me not to give up.
I was also working part-time at a day spa, which honestly lacked motivation and drive. That experience showed me what I didn’t want—and made it clear what I did want. I knew I could create something more intentional, impactful, and client-focused. So I went all in and took the leap to go full-time with my own business.
My biggest inspirations were my parents, my sister, and especially my daughter. Their support kept me grounded and focused through every high and low. I never gave up—and I’m proud of every step it took to get here.
From there, I kept pushing forward and reinvesting everything back into my business. I used all of my savings, never taking out a loan or getting financial support from a bank. I worked early mornings and late nights, sometimes earning little or nothing—but I knew I had to start somewhere, and I believed in what I was building.
What truly set me apart was my personality and the way I connected with my clients. I didn’t just offer services—I offered care, confidence, and education. I created a safe space where clients felt seen, heard, and supported.
Eventually, I hired help and moved into a larger suite in Ontario. But as business kept growing, I took a leap of faith and opened my own spa in Rancho Cucamonga. It’s now been officially open for a year, and I can confidently say it was the best decision I’ve ever made. My sister joined me one month after opening, and together we’ve continued to grow, evolve, and pour our hearts into what we do.
We’ve partnered with amazing skincare brands whose reps have helped us expand our knowledge, retail offerings, and treatment protocols. Every late night, every risk, and every moment of self-doubt has been worth it. And the most exciting part? We’re just getting started.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. One of my biggest challenges was starting with no financial backing. I didn’t take out loans or get outside funding—I built everything with my own savings, one facial at a time. I was also a new mom, trying to balance motherhood, school, and building a business from scratch. There were countless sleepless nights, early mornings, and days where I worked long hours for little or no income.
But one of the biggest ongoing challenges has been staying consistent and standing out in a saturated market—especially on social media. These days, everything revolves around visibility and online presence. Coming out of school, I didn’t know how to post, what to post, or how to build a digital brand. I would go days, even weeks, posting content with no feedback, no bookings, and no engagement. It was incredibly discouraging. But something in me kept saying, “Keep going.” So I did.
Learning to wear so many hats—esthetician, business owner, content creator, customer service, and mom—was overwhelming. But I stayed consistent, and over time, I began to see results. Looking back, those tough seasons were the ones that built the strongest version of me. And I thank God I didn’t give up.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
I’ve always made it a priority to stay inspired and never stop learning. In the beginning of my journey, I listened to a lot of skin-related podcasts—not necessarily to copy what they were doing, but to stay motivated and connected to the industry. One person who really inspired me early on was The Dallas Esthetician. I’ve followed her for over five years, and watching her growth, hustle, and consistency showed me what was possible. Seeing another esthetician build something meaningful gave me hope and kept me going when things felt slow.
Beyond that, my faith is a huge part of my life. I lean on the Bible, daily devotionals, and books filled with affirmations and encouragement. Those practices have grounded me and helped me stay focused on my purpose during the hardest seasons.
I also make education a constant part of my routine. I join webinars, and dive into trainings as often as I can. I love learning—it helps me grow as a business owner, esthetician, and mentor. The more I grow, the more I can give back to my clients, and that’s always been the goal.
