Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Horne and Piper Welch. They and their team share their story with us below:
ReJen²erate, a fitness and wellness business, came to fruition in March 2022 by longtime friends Jennifer “Piper” Welch and Jennifer Horne.
We have both always been full-time moms with full-time careers, dealing with the constant challenge of balancing the demands of work and home. We had talked for years about leaving our jobs and starting a business; however, the timing was never quite right and our vision wasn’t clear. The pandemic, and the ensuing shutdown, gave us the opportunity to reflect on what we truly valued and how we could use it to help others. Fitness has always been a huge part of our lives and friendship. Aside from working out together, we’ve run 5 Ks to Half Marathons over the years. Piper took her passion for fitness a step further and was certified as a personal trainer. We threw around the idea of opening a fitness or pilates studio together but it never quite sparked our passion. And then it hit us! Jen is an avid meditator. It was a tool that got her through the low of an unhealthy marriage and divorce and helped her tremendously in rebuilding her life. We decided to combine these two passions and Rejen²erate was born. Our format is a 50 minutes high-intensity workout followed by a relaxing and thought-provoking 20-minute guided meditation. We like to say, “Piper will hype you up and Jen will calm you down.” And then there’s the mimosas! We end all our classes with a refreshing mimosa and plenty of time to connect with others, which has been a huge component of our success. We realized, especially after the pandemic, how disconnected many people feel. Having that time to meet new people and socialize is so important and has been so gratifying to us. The whole journey has been amazing for us both…we’ve definitely discovered our own joys and passions along the way!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As rewarding as this journey has been, we have had some challenges. We don’t fit the typical model for a fitness or meditation center. We hold our classes in a beautiful, private outdoor space in Toluca Lake and only have a couple of classes each week. Being a two-hour experience, we’re a little more of an event than a class, so building our base has taken a little longer. That being said, our clients love the format and its uniqueness. It also seems that people need to experience a class to see that these two things – a high-intensity workout and meditation- go together. We believe that our platform is so much more than getting in the day’s workout and a little relaxation. We’re presenting both as tools to set goals and make forward movement on them, not just for your body and mind, but for every aspect of your life.
As you know, we’re big fans of REJEN²ERATE. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about the brand?
On average, we host 8 to 10 of our Sweat, Serenity & Sip classes a month- these entail a 50-minute high-intensity workout and 20-minute meditation followed by Mimosa’s and time to connect. Additionally, we do “Take to You” events which are essentially bringing our class to you- your home, your guests. Whether it’s for a birthday party, shower or family event, it’s a fun and healthy option for any gathering being planned. We also take our class format to companies for corporate well-being and team-building events. Piper tailors her workout to incorporate partnership and teamwork. Her obstacle courses are a blast! And, as Jen writes all of our own meditations, we customize those to address a company’s particular stresses or to highlight a company’s values in a meaningful way. We’ve also made collaboration an important part of our work. Whether it’s collaborating with a trainer that does a different style of workout or with a non-profit trying to bring awareness to a particular cause, we love building our community in this way! In October, we’re hosting a dance-inspired class with professional dancer and choreographer Melanie Buttarazzi to raise money for her non-profit organization Fostering Dreams Project that uses dance to educate, empower and inspire children in foster care. Collaborations like these truly feed our passion and joy for what we’re doing.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
We’re not really sure that luck would be the right word, but we are big believers in the power of the Universe for sure! When we finally formed our vision and started taking steps towards it, it took on a life of its own. A journey started to unfold and opportunities began to present themselves in kind of a magical way. Not only have we met people we might not have otherwise, but those encounters seem to facilitate new insights and directions that keep expanding our plans and goals for Rejen²erate. What started out as an idea for a business has morphed into so much more for us personally. We feel like we have found our calling and we couldn’t be more excited to see where it takes us.
