Hidden Gems: Meet Hyde of Bloodthirstea

Hi Hyde, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey in the world of creativity and entrepreneurship began in 2016 after I completed cosmetology school.

I started a photography business with the goal of creating captivating and lasting memories for people. Photography became my medium to help individuals tell their unique stories through powerful visuals.

However, in 2020, the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic brought my photography business to a halt. Faced with this unexpected challenge, I turned to the internet to share my passions for vampire aesthetics, cosmetology, photography, and music. This pivot allowed me to build an online audience and connect with people who shared similar interests.

Fast forward to 2022, I bought my house and continued to push content, expanding my reach and influence. I began to explore new avenues, including organizing travel giveaways to help people see the world—offering opportunities to those who might not have the means to travel otherwise. This endeavor aimed to create lasting memories and experiences for my followers.

Our community has grown significantly, and we are now pushing to get to a point where we can provide free trips around the world for members of our Patreon community, helping people build cherished memories. This year, in 2024, we are excited to launch our new tea company, Bloodthirstea, combining my love for unique flavors with a touch of hauntingly beautiful imagery.

I started growing hibiscus in my backyard after I bought my house. The previous owner had one, and it was absolutely beautiful, but I let it die because I didn’t realize the watering system wasn’t working. After it died and I fixed the system, I replanted a new one, and every day, I go out to check on it because I’m absolutely in love with the flowers it produces. I thought a few times about how cool it would be to use my hibiscus to make tea. After talking to my good friend Mariel, owner of Curst Kosmetics, about my Patreon and wanting to provide something more tangible to my supporters, she said, “Well, you don’t drink alcohol, you don’t drink coffee.

Have you thought about making tea?” At the time, it almost seemed like one of those “meant to be” situations because I had been thinking about it for at least a year, and then she mentioned it to me, and it just made sense. Immediately when we got off the phone with each other, that’s when I decided I was going to start a tea company. Thus, Bloodthirstea was born, and the obvious answer was to start with Hydebiscus as our first flavor. This allowed me to further blend my vision and passions and share those with my followers to create something even more beautiful.

Our journey continues to evolve, and we are committed to creating meaningful and memorable experiences for our community.

We all face challenges, but would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
In regards to Bloodthirstea, yes! So far, it has been a smooth road. We just launched our business in June with a soft launch to my Patreon community.

We opened it to the public two weeks later, and it’s been consistent so far. Every day, we receive new orders, which we package and ship ourselves. Our three-pack “Awaken Collection” boxes are even signed, which has added a nice personal touch to our products.
