Hidden Gems: Meet Franck Morineau of wilshirewest

Today we’d like to introduce you to Franck Morineau

Hi Franck, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Came to the US from France (Paris) in 1983, graduated from UCSB w/ BA in Economics in 1986 also obtained my Real Estate License that same year. Did a few deals while still in college and started my career in earnest as office leasing specialist at Cushman and Wakefield in 1986, moved to Charles Dunn company until 1993 when I went to work for Realtech (large owner/developer) in Century City as VP of office leasing. In 1999 I founded my own outfit WilshireWest -specializing to this date in office and industrial property (sale and leasing). To date I participated and closed in excess of 2,000 real estate transactions of all types. My professional good fortune is likely the result of my genuine interest in putting together deals and helping my clients navigate successfully through the transaction. A little luck and steadfast determination to get things done have helped as well.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The struggles were many: New country, unknown city, different approach to doing business. Learning to read people and situations takes time and experience. At times deal just unravel unexpectedly and weeks or months of work go to waste and all potential earnings get washed away and you have to pick up and start again. Another challenge is working with all kinds of different clients operating vastly different businesses and it is our job to understand and adapt to their needs and goals to help them navigate through the transaction successfully. It takes a lot of analysis and flexibility to become a client’s temporary real estate division for the time we guide them through the process. The fun part is that each deal is always different and presents new complexity that we have to adjust to. So from that standpoint it is always new and exacting to partner up with so many different professionals.

When we represent clients in the acquisition of office or industrial space we always get compensated by the lessor or seller. Our service is available at no charge to the Tenant or Buyer because our fee/ commission is always factored into the transaction as it is customary in California and most of the US.
