Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I grew up in the U.S. but moved to Melbourne, Australia to pursue my bachelor’s degree in audio engineering and music production at JMC Academy. After graduating, I moved to Los Angeles, where I’ve been for about ten years. Back in 2020 I launched Formal Entertainment, specializing in AV rentals, audio-visual equipment installations, and live event support. I’ve been fortunate to work with incredible clients in LA, including Soho House, Beverly Hills Hotel, The Beach Boys, The White House, and George Clooney.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
From the outside, everything might seem effortless—part of our style is making sure clients feel relaxed and confident leading up to their important events. But behind the scenes, we put in a tremendous amount of extra work to ensure the highest level of quality and service. My team and I often work long hours, sometimes sacrificing a full night’s sleep, because we’re committed to making everything perfect. We love what we do, and our passion and teamwork make it all possible.

I take immense pride in our client list, which serves as a testament to the exceptional level of service we provide. What I’m most proud of though is the incredible team I’ve assembled at Formal Entertainment. I carefully select each team member, ensuring they embody the values we stand for—thoughtfulness, passion, and intelligence. They excel in their roles, and it’s a privilege to have such outstanding individuals representing our company. It means the world to me to know that our team not only delivers exceptional service but also upholds the positive reputation we’ve worked hard to build.
How do you think about happiness?
Seeing our clients happy makes me happy. Their events are deeply important to them, and I understand the pressure to make everything perfect. That’s why I’m dedicated to providing top-notch audio-visual equipment and a team of friendly, skilled technicians to ensure everything runs smoothly. There’s nothing more satisfying than seeing the joy on our client’s face at the end of the event when everything has gone perfectly.
Whether we’re installing a permanent sound system or designing an impressive A/V setup for an event, we go the extra mile to spark joy for our clients. Their happiness is contagious and reminds us why we love what we do!
