Hidden Gems: Meet Farbod Zarrin of MPDLA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Farbod Zarrin.

Hi Farbod, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I immigrated to the United States from Iran in 2005 with my family and have spent much of my life working to build stability and purpose through education and hard work. I began my career in healthcare as a CNA and EMT, which exposed me early to patient care and the realities of chronic disease and emergency medicine. Over time, this inspired me to pursue nursing, and I am now completing my BSN after earning a prior degree in health administration. Alongside my healthcare path, I built a small business in energy compliance and consulting, which taught me discipline, leadership, and problem-solving. Balancing entrepreneurship with nursing has shaped me into someone who values both service and innovation. My journey has been driven by resilience, continuous learning, and a desire to make a meaningful impact on people’s health and long-term well-being.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road. As an immigrant, I had to navigate a new language, culture, and education system while helping support my family. Financial pressure meant I worked while going to school, which required constant discipline and sacrifice. Balancing healthcare training with running a small business added another layer of challenge, especially during periods of high stress and limited sleep. There were moments of doubt and burnout, but those struggles strengthened my resilience and reinforced my commitment to growth. Each obstacle taught me adaptability, perseverance, and the importance of staying focused on long-term goals.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about MPDLA?
My business focuses on energy compliance and consulting, specializing in California Title 24 reports, HERS testing coordination, and energy modeling for residential and light commercial projects. We help builders, architects, and homeowners navigate complex energy regulations in a simple, efficient, and reliable way. What sets us apart is our attention to detail, fast turnaround time, and commitment to educating clients rather than just providing a report. We don’t see compliance as paperwork—we see it as an opportunity to improve building performance, reduce long-term energy costs, and support sustainability.

Brand-wise, I am most proud of building something from the ground up through trust, consistency, and quality service. My background in healthcare and business allows me to approach this work with a service-first mindset and strong ethical standards. I want readers to know that our brand stands for accuracy, transparency, and long-term value. We aim to be more than a compliance provider—we strive to be a reliable partner for projects that care about efficiency, health, and the future of construction.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I define success as building a life and career that create real impact while staying true to my values. Success means helping others—whether through healthcare or sustainable energy—while continuously growing as a professional and as a person. It’s not only about financial stability, but about resilience, integrity, and leaving something meaningful behind. For me, success is being able to overcome challenges, support my family, and use my skills to improve people’s health, well-being, and quality of life over the long term.
