Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Pogany.
Hi Emily, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My journey started out as a very personal one, rooted in my desire to heal my body of chronic health issues as well as my lifelong interest in metaphysics and spirituality. Little did I know at the time that this was going to be the journey of a lifetime, expanding my knowledge and capacity to help myself and others to heal and empower themselves in a very holistic way.
My professional journey started with my decision back in 2015 to become certified in reiki. As I mentioned, I was suffering from a chronic health issue that some of the top specialists in the country deemed a “mystery illness.” A few years earlier, I had already started visiting my local metaphysical shops back in NJ, where I’m originally from, and learning about topics like manifestation and people like Louise Hay, Mike Dooley, and Wayne Dyer. Don’t worry; Gabby Bernstein followed soon after! But reiki felt like something I was always supposed to know how to do while awakening my intuitive gifts and abilities. I knew I had to share this modality with as many people as possible, even if just for others to become aware of their innate power and abilities.
Throughout the years the followed, I immersed myself in learning as much as possible about energetics, the subconscious mind, somatic and nervous system healing & regulation in order to quench my own thirst for knowledge while rounding out my services & offerings, but something happened in 2016 that really changed the trajectory of my path.
I channeled an idea for product. A candy to be specific that would disrupt the emerging CBD and adaptogen industry along with rigid diet culture and spiritual stereotypes. It was an idea I just knew and felt deep in my bones that I was meant to execute and birth a soulfully aligned mission gifted to me from Source. And little did I know how much this business venture would take me on an incredibly important and impactful journey of self-discovery, healing, personal and spiritual development.
In the years that followed, there was a lot of trial and error and a lot of risk-taking as I ventured into the CPG space alone alongside my healing & coaching practice. I took steps “out of order,” made an obscene amount of cold calls, took myself to networking events and trade shows, and invested a lot of time and money, which all finally paid off once I finally found a team of experts to support me.
And while my overall vision, dedication, and commitment to my grand vision never faltered, details within that vision pivoted and changed while I learned lessons of surrender, trust, and collaboration. My vision grew even grander as I become flooded with product idea after product idea, turning the concept of a healthy candy line into a spiritual confectionary company & wellness brand.
I knew it was time to temporarily put aside my sole work as an intuitive holistic healer and coach and channel all my energy into what is now MASAH, my company that was finally launched in September 2023. I learned that I needed to invest even more time to my own self-care practices and in what ways I needed to do that. I had to learn how to work with and manage an expanding team who I owe an immense amount of gratitude for all their support because it truly takes a village! Not to mention putting aside pride, ego, and, in my case, a past of insecurity and people-pleasing tendencies.
The name of my company, MASAH, is derived from the Hebrew word for the journey you take through the heart and soul, which perfectly encapsulates my own experience. The inner work we do is not for the faint of heart, but nevertheless the most important and necessary undertaking. One that takes time, effort, the right support, and patience, and one which I’m grateful for each and every single day.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely has not been a smooth road! As much as people can share their own experience and guidance with us, I feel like nothing really prepares you for the journey of entrepreneurship, let alone the human experience!
Some of the struggles I’ve encountered along my path include, but are not limited to, my own limiting beliefs and fears to face and move through, learning to navigate others’ communication styles and working habits with my own, continually learning to master my confidence and leadership skills, and finding the right support.
It really took a minute to find the right people to collaborate with that had the skills and abilities to execute my vision in technical terms such as manufacturing, distribution, packaging, design, etc.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
MASAH is a spiritual confectionary company & wellness brand that teaches and promotes self-care and mindfulness in a delicious, fun, and innovative way. Our debut product is called Chakra Caramels, which are a line of essential oil-infused, reiki-charged, plant-based caramels with 7 flavor blends that support and balance each chakra. Each package comes with a QR code on the back that links to that chakra-specific meditation. The other purposes of the brand are to provide indulgent treats with clean ingredients that you feel GOOD about putting in your body, provides a kinetic and tangible reminder to drop in throughout a busy day, and build a practice of self-connection.
I’m proud to offer a unique opportunity for others to break free of rigidity, connect to their own spirit, even their own inner child, and learn to find more freedom as they seek out what works for their own health & well-being. I’ve always been known for providing a safe space for authentic self-discovery and exploration, making sure never to sugarcoat what that entails, and allowing each individual to show up exactly as they need to, for who they truly are.
I bring in my 10+ years of work and expertise as a reiki master, certified breathwork & meditation teacher, and intuitive coach as the face of the brand that’s also doing the work right alongside you to provide brand & product education and practices and rituals to support you. As a friend-appointed “Willy Wonka of Spirituality,” it’s such a gift and a pleasure to bring in more play, imagination, deliciousness, and a little bit of rock n’ roll energy to the wellness world and spiritual industry.
What’s next?
I’m looking forward to growing and expanding MASAH, creating more product offerings that offer a unique experience for each customer and consumer, and ultimately supporting as many people as possible when it comes to loving themselves, healing, and empowering themselves.
Eventually, I’d like the space and ability to support people in a 1:1 capacity again, as there is really no better feeling for me than being in session and holding space for clients. I do feel retreats are in my future and continue to hold the intention to build an impactful, like-minded community while opening myself up to beautiful opportunities and collaborations that align with the values and foundations of the brand.
I’m looking forward to continuing to build a legacy that inspires others to take action on their own soul-pings, callings, and deepest heart’s desires.
