Hidden Gems: Meet Dr. April J. Lisbon of Running Your Race Enterprises

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. April J. Lisbon.

Dr. April J. Lisbon

Dr. Lisbon, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I originally started in the coaching industry. I then pivoted into writing content for others. I then evolved into working as a media coach for my clients.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has not been a smooth road. Sometimes, life gets in the way of building a successful brand and business. Over the years, I have had to start and stop my business due to bankruptcy and mental health issues within my family. Even with the bumps in the road, I’ve learned to push through.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Running Your Race Enterprises specializes in helping 6 and 7-figure income earners confidently expand their personal brands using media and feel powerful doing it. We offer image consulting, 1:1 branding strategy, media training, PR pitching, and more.

What’s next?
I’m excited about expanding my brand, Own Your Ish with Doc April to an even larger audience through product placements on YouTube, Tubi, and a few celebrity movies and reality shows. I have a collaborative book project I’m working on entitled The Narrative of the Black Incarcerated Man: Mass Incarceration, Prison Reform, and Rehabilitation. It’s based on the lived experiences of one of my clients and is part of the SpringerBriefs series, Offending Populations and Correctional Psychotherapy. I’m also looking forward to traveling and spending more time with my family.
