Hidden Gems: Meet Christina Ameri-palmer of Exelement Beauty Studio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christina Ameri-palmer

Hi Christina, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started as a makeup artist in upstate New York after seriously flunking out in community college. Desperate to please my family as they were pushing me to go to school for something, anything. I decided I’d go to makeup school at Austin’s school of spa technology , now closed. Little did I know just how much that would light a fire inside of me. That was the start of my career. My teacher, Julie Occhino, became my mentor and someone I looked up too. She inspired me to go to Esthetics school shortly after, take many continuing education courses and shortly after graduating and being in the field for a bit she took me under her wing in her Salon in downtown Troy at the time. I worked alongside Julie in upstate New York for many years specializing in bridal makeup and eyelash extensions. Until the pandemic hit, and everything changed. I was ready for bigger things. That’s when I moved to LA, my first year out here I spent taking many classes with Michael Vincent Academy to make as many connections as I could out here. Started working on set a lot, and traveling to clients houses taking on any job I could. Shortly after moving to LA I met my husband Ali. Who is my biggest support and pushed me to chase my dreams farther then I could have ever imagined. We decided to open up Exelement beauty studio, The very essence of ‘Exelement’ is a tribute to Ali’s late sister, Mariam, a luminary who departed tragically in 2017. Mariam, a spirited entrepreneur, pioneered her own venture, Exelement Events. In her vibrant spirit, she often declared herself as the ‘ex’ element — the missing piece that completes the puzzle. Her profound impact lingers in our hearts and in the name we proudly bear.
The heartbeat of Exelement Beauty echoes Mariam’s sentiment – that we all possess a unique missing element waiting to be discovered. This sentiment resonates in our heartfelt slogan, “find your missing element.” It’s an invitation to embark on a journey of self-discovery, embracing the idea that within each individual lies a distinct essence, a missing element waiting to be unveiled and celebrated.
Every stroke of our makeup brushes, every shade carefully chosen, and every client we touch is a testament to Mariam’s enduring legacy. Exelement Beauty is more than a beauty brand; it’s a celebration of individuality, a tribute to lost loved ones, and a beacon guiding us to find our own missing elements in the vast tapestry of life.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Absolutely not. I opened up my studio with a big dream in mind, and little to no actual clients after moving from upstate NY during the pandemic. It was a slow start, but absolutely worth it. The difference between someone who is successful and someone who isn’t, is not giving up. No matter how hard it is.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Exelement Beauty Studio ?
I specialize in Eyelash Extensions, Lash lifts, brows and facials. We also have an amazing esthetician Sasha Wordlaw who just joined our team who has 20 years of experience in the beauty industry. We want the readers to know that we are inviting them to embark on a journey of self-discovery, embracing the idea that within each individual lies a distinct essence, a missing element waiting to be unveiled and celebrated
