Hidden Gems: Meet Carmen Sima of Mother Earth Ayurveda

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carmen Sima.

Carmen, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
It was the cobblestoned streets in Mexico that first soothed my soul. I was three years old on a bus with my mother. She had struggled with her mental health and was unable to care for me. I lived with my father and grandparents. On this day, she was taking me to the zoo. In her attempt to calm me, she placed me near the window. I remember looking down and feeling a soothing grounded-ness which help me feel better. I stopped crying.

I didn’t know it at the time but she was actually not taking me to the zoo, but rather she was taking me to AMERICA! Perhaps I sensed I would not see my father for 20 some years.

Growing up with a mentally unwell parent was an amazing and tumultuous adventure. She was impulsive, explosive, charismatic, extremely creative and bold. As a way to soothe myself from the stressful times I began to develop an imaginative and enchanted relationship with the outside natural world.

Those cobble-stoned streets that I encountered in Mexico impressed upon my subconscious mind so deeply that I even drew pictures of them and taped them on my bedroom walls throughout my school-age years. They felt supportive and reminded me of Mexico.

As I grew older, I learned about the elements and the seasons which enriched my connection with mother nature even more! I began to understand that I could transform my feelings with them. I felt like a wizard!

As I grew older, I would implement these connections with the elements to process deeper emotions and even transmute firey ones.

When I was pregnant with my only son, I would visualize a little waterfall bathing him whenever I would be upset with his father. When I went into labor, I imagine it there bathing me too. It was very helpful.

But it wasn’t until my mother became very ill due to a chemical toxins that I was lead to the greatest healing of all. She had been placed on medication after medication which only made matters worse. I was always drawn to nature as healing medicine in an intuitive and organic manner but my mother’s illness opened the doors for me to find Ayurveda. Through my research, I discovered more about the elements and our interconnectedness with nature and the cosmic universe. I felt as if this wisdom that lived within my mind, heart and soul. I loved everything about this ancient way of healing through balancing the inner elements and tuning the rhythms of the earth’s mother.

Within a year of discovering Ayurveda as a way to help my mother with her illnesses, I had shifted my life from a corporate executive in the marketing world to a full-time student at the Southern California University of Health Sciences. There were many details and oh so many sacrifices that were made in order for me to complete my 2 certificates but in 2011 I did and I have been an independent Holistic Practitioner ever since.

My mother’s battle with her mental health as well as her physical health was the catalyst that helped me discover my calling as a healing facilitator and to this day she keeps me on my toes. It has not been easy but if it were, I wouldn’t of felt such a devotion to delve deeply into this sacred knowledge. I know it was my destiny.

As I worked on healing my own traumas and working with these sacred teachings, my intuitive channel became available to me. At first, I was afraid to expose myself due to the fear of criticism. We do have psychics and shamans in my Mayan lineage. And it isn’t always an easy journey to be a seer of the higher realms. It comes with an enormous sense of responsibility to take care of your mind and body.

But as I slowly began to trust myself and do all of the things to remain grounded, I began to open up and one day in a group meditation it was as clear as everything else, the spirit world and spirit guides, angels became visible.

I now guide others on how to ground and nourish themselves in a holistic way in an effort to awaken the inherit spiritual gifts while still maintaining inner wellness. I believe that in the future we will all be better aligned with our intuition, with each other, with mother earth and with the cosmic consciousness.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has been a difficult road because Ayurveda was not very well known 11 years ago. I also struggle with self-promotion and do not enjoy exposing myself hahaha. I think many true healers are old souls which are focused on others and self-promotion is counterintuitive. I am grateful beyond words for my clients because they stick with me and refer me to their people. THANK GOD.

As you know, we’re big fans of Mother Earth Ayurveda. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
My wellness center is focused on Ayurveda, Chakra Healing, Spiritual Counseling, Prana Energy healing, Breath work, Wellness Workshops and Intuitive Guidance. I am a clairvoyant psychic and the creator of the Vedic Chakra School. I am most known for my intuitive gifts and group meditations. I volunteer as a way to help me cope with the injustices in our world. Especially in our minority communities. I have provided many scholarships to underprivileged women and men for my chakra courses and wellness cleanses. I host quarterly self-care and wellness workshops for the Latina mothers who have children with disabilities. I am most happy when I volunteer. It is highly rewarding and it helps me feel as if I am supporting the children of mothers who may potentially be on the verge. I empathized deeply with the children.

I am also known for my keen intuitive ability and can connect with individuals on a very deep level. I provide sound holistic wellness consultations as well as intuitive sessions for individuals and groups. I am kind and compassionate but also wise and grounded. I am down to earth but also connected to the cosmic field of awareness. I am quiet but when I speak I am deep. I love and breath nature she is my mother. 😉

I love to help people connect with the elements as their allies in wellness and in life. In my podcast Infinite Wellness with Carmen Sima, I outline each element and how to bring it to balance within our mind and our body. Ayurveda teaches that we are a microcosm of the macrocosm and as such, we possess the same energetic qualities that make up the earth and the universe. It is my passion to guide others into this deep rich natural world within and without.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
Looking back, I feel fortunate that I was born an empath because it granted me the ability to feel and connect with the sensations that helped soothe me. I intuitively gravitated toward earthly things and people. I do believe too that I have been blessed and fortunate to attract many friends from past lives because my connections with people are deep and organic. I do feel like a lucky person yes. My business runs on almost entirely on word of mouth because I am not the greatest at self-promotion, even answering these questions has been an adventure!
