Hidden Gems: Meet Ana Gaona of Two Peacocks Travel

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ana Gaona.

Ana Gaona

Hi Ana, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Who knew that a leap of faith from our public sector jobs would catapult us into an incredible journey of personal reinvention? Trading our office desks for the open road, we founded a travel business designed to empower women to discover themselves while exploring the world.

Our story started with a mission close to home: our high school children. We launched a cultural and social immersion program for students on the brink of their next big adventure. Drawing from our own transformative experiences, we curated trips beyond the typical tourist traps, pushing participants to become the protagonists of their own stories.

Whether it’s our women’s group travel or the student initiative, our goal remains to offer immersive self-discovery opportunities. From language learning and community engagement to moments of quiet reflection, our trips are crafted to ignite personal growth. By fostering connections among travelers, we have nurtured a supportive community where transformation thrives.

Our journey has been a beautiful balancing act—juggling events, staying true to ourselves, and always inspiring women to embrace change as a pathway to growth and renewal. Travel became the catalyst for our reinvention, and we share this passion to empower others to rewrite their stories and embrace new possibilities.

Fast forward to today, we’ve traveled to about 15 countries, executed successfully 3 cultural and social immersion programs, and have been featured in podcasts and publications, including Canvas Rebel. Our adventure is just beginning, and we can’t wait to see where the road takes us next!

Alright, let’s dig a little deeper into the story. Has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a challenging road for us. We’ve encountered plenty of curveballs, but thanks to our background and experience, we’ve learned to pivot and stay flexible in the face of change. The biggest struggles have come from learning to unlearn. Reinventing ourselves during challenging times has shown us that the unimaginable is achievable. Transitioning from employment to entrepreneurship was a significant leap. It demanded that we utilize our previous experience and skill set in new ways and find common ground where it could be helpful in the travel industry. This shift came with risks and required perseverance, but it was ultimately the most rewarding experience ever. The biggest takeaway? Stay open to continuous learning. Prepare to be unprepared. Pivot and adapt. And most importantly, stay motivated by finding your community throughout the journey.
