Hidden Gems: Meet Amber Krzys of Fierce Loving

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amber Krzys.

Hi Amber, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I was raised in a single-parent home in Charleston, WV, where my mom worked hard to provide for us. Early on, she enrolled me in dance class which became my joyful safe haven and years later, my career. My biological father was a hot-tempered alcoholic who I visited a few times a year. Growing up, I traveled between two different worlds—one of loving and struggle and the other of fear and unpredictability. I saw a lot and learned what I didn’t want my life to be.

My mom wasn’t allowed to follow her dreams when she was younger so she supported me in following mine. I graduated from Point Park University with a BFA in Musical Theater. My plan was to take Broadway by storm! After moving to New York and spending years auditioning and facing rejection after rejection, I finally made my Broadway debut in the musical Mamma Mia. I genuinely believed this moment would “fix” me and make me good enough–which was not the case. Reaching this goal only intensified my desire for perfection.

I left the big apple to pursue tv and film in Los Angeles. It was here where I reached my breaking point. After twenty years of disordered eating, hating my body and striving for perfection, I found myself lost. I felt broken and alone. I discovered The University of Santa Monica where I enrolled in their two-year master’s degree program in Spiritual Psychology. During that time, I discovered a new me. I had a healing with my relationship with my body, let go of patterns of perfection and created a more loving/kind way of being with myself.

This led to the creation of my first business: bodyheart. All I wanted to do was help people love the skin they were in through workshops, an online program and coaching.

Having never run a business before, it was quite the learning curve. At one point, I found myself in $44K in credit card debt. I judged myself as a failure and felt so much shame. I knew the work I was doing was good, but I couldn’t seem to fill my programs or find clients…until I started working with my own coach, Michelle Bauman. With her guidance, I let go of many limiting beliefs I had about money and my ability to create it, and I implemented new money-generating actions in my coaching practice. Within a year and a half, I paid off my debt, made multiple six-figures, and knew how to be a professional coach.

Michelle dramatically transformed my life—and when she passed away from cancer in 2015, I formed my next business: Fierce Loving. It was her Fierce Loving and stand for me that changed everything. I wanted to carry on her legacy with myself, clients and community.

Today I have a thriving coaching practice where I serve a wide range of individuals, including coaches, artists, small business owners, and corporate/creative executives. I also lead coaching groups on success, happiness, kindness and love. I live in Los Angeles with my husband and two rescue pups.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I don’t think anyone has a “smooth” road to success. And that’s by design, for it’s the challenging times that cause us to pause, reflect and sometimes course correct.

There were many struggles I experienced along the way—from having my life threatened by my stepmother to an estranged relationship with my biological father to trying to make my body be something it wasn’t, getting out of $44K in credit card debt, losing my beloved coach, almost losing my now husband due to complications from a surgery, fearing I would be alone forever and, ultimately, never feeling fulfilled or like I belonged.

Each challenge brought me closer to myself and my truth.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Fierce Loving is about helping people love themselves and their lives more deeply. It’s about dismantling past conditioning (cultural, religious, familial, societal) and living a life according to one’s truth. Fulfillment, success, abundance, joy—whatever the desire—is possible and closer than you think. Learning and understanding the nature of the mind and being human is waking up to the matrix. And that waking up, time and time again is the point. For here resides the moment of choice, freedom, and responsibility. Living into this new way of being changes everything, and that is what we co-create at Fierce Loving through keynotes, workshops, retreats, group programs and individual coaching packages. Adventures and fun are part of our charm too!

What are your plans for the future?
I have no idea. I’ve learned over time that Life is intelligent and has far more information than what I can see with my eyes. When I let Life show me what’s next, I am astounded at the creation process—in the most beautiful ways. So, I’m waiting for my next assignment, and in the meantime, tending to my self-care so that I’m ready when the information comes.
