Hidden Gems: Meet Ahmad Muhammad of Solar Candle Company

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ahmad Muhammad. 

Hi Ahmad, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
Solar Candle Company was founded in November 2020 on two tenets. That was to provide inexpensive aromatherapy for those with asthma and respiratory illnesses, as well as to leverage my passion for video games to reach out to the common gamer and let them know that our company has them in mind with all of our products. 

We have grown our product selection in the past two years from only selling wax melts and candles to carrying room sprays, diffusers, carpet fresheners, and so much more is already planned for the future. 

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Starting a business during a global pandemic was one of the most difficult challenges for me. People were uncertain about what the future held, which meant less money to spend with small companies in general, which was definitely felt. 

Another challenge I faced as a first-time company owner was a lack of experience. Before I started, I did a lot of research, testing, and other things, but nothing beats firsthand knowledge with how to manage a business on a daily basis. 

It wasn’t an easy path, but I don’t think I would be the person I am now if I never had to face the challenges that came my way. 

We’ve been impressed with Solar Candle Company, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We create non-toxic asthma-safe video game aromatherapy. Candles, Wax Melts, Room Sprays, Room Diffusers, Car Diffusers, and Carpet Fresheners are among our offerings and they are all phthalate and paraben free. 

Something that distinguishes us from other similar businesses is that everything we manufacture is handcrafted, and we provide same-day to next-day shipping on all of our products. We take care in ensuring that your things are delivered quickly and safely. 

I’d say our Elden Ring candle line has made me the most proud. It was a fantastic release with 5 candles based on the video game Elden Ring, it came out during the game’s popularity and I’m grateful to share that it sold out entirely within a few months. 

The main point I wish for all of your readers to understand is that video games are for everyone, and safe aromatherapy selections should always be available. We work hard not just to provide safe solutions for those with respiratory concerns, but also to de-stigmatize gaming by demonstrating how gratifying the experience can be and that’s why we also offer custom orders for those that have a special video game or a special scent in mind for any occasion. 

What would you say has been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is how to connect with others. 

I’ve spent my life either walled off and left to my own devices or in niche communities, but when I entered the world of business, I realized that when people see the person, I am first it motivates people to purchase from me more than a spreadsheet of fragrance notes and ingredient lists. 

When using social media, I don’t just advertise my products, I like to make people laugh, offer my perspective on topics, give tips on video games, and even live stream to talk to the community that I’ve built. 

I’d say that I’ve devoted a substantial portion of my social media efforts to simply being kind. Kindness is free, and the impression you make on someone may last a lifetime, empowering you to promote anything you want because trust has already been developed over time.
