Exploring Life & Business with Jeanne Gormick of It was V Jeanne Gormick, PR; jeanne Gormick, Dot Connector and now just Jeanne Gormick.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeanne Gormick.

Hi Jeanne, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was a stay-at-home mom with 3 kids. My late husband Cal and I started a fundraising auction business that led to my starting a PR firm – all as homebased businesses.

As the kids moved out I ventured into a new career in the senior industry where I worked at an Assisted Living Community, was VP at a Caregiving Agency and finally ended that career as the Hospice Volunteer Manager at Sea Crest Hospice a Providence company.)

I lost Cal the year before Covid began. A difficult time to be sure. We’d been married for just shy of 50 years.

During Covid I published 3 books including Your Treasured Marriage about our 50 year marriage. I was still working for Sea Crest Hospice but I retired a couple of years later because my volunteers weren’t able to visit patients.

As I prepared for retirement, I created online Zoom marriage workshops to help young people. Those workshops began to have a clear focus on widowhood.

Now I am a Regional Leader for Soaring Spirits International where I set up dinners to bring fellow widowed people together. It’s where I ended up meeting my husband Bill last year!

My workshops will change into community education classes next Spring where I can help people in person.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Working from home back when I was doing it was a bit challenging as my neighbors had no idea that I wasn’t just doing household activities! I was asked to pick up their kids or come over for coffee. Hopefully with Covid that has changed a bit!

Of course losing my husband, my anchor was really hard but it gave me the understand of grief from a personal level that has taken me to where I am today.

As you know, we’re big fans of It was V Jeanne Gormick, PR; jeanne Gormick, Dot Connector and now just Jeanne Gormick. . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I have always specialized in helping people – encouraging them. That never changed but my audiences have.

Now I help people have more balanced lives with the support and resources I provide to widowed people and their families.

My long life of diverse experiences definitely sets me apart along with my never stopping positive, grateful personality.

How do you think about happiness?
As a newly wed…my husband and the new life we are forging as two formally widowed people.

And of course, helping others.
