Today we’d like to introduce you to Sonia Singla.
Hi Sonia, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’d love to share a bit of my story. After years of dreaming and planning, I opened The Marigold Center in Pasadena with the vision of creating a sanctuary for women navigating perimenopause and menopause. As a family medicine physician and clinical researcher with more than two decades of experience, I’ve long been struck by how underserved women are during this transition. Throughout my career, I’ve critically evaluated medical therapies, immersing myself in both Western research and Ayurvedic medicine, to understand what truly supports healing.
My journey is also deeply personal. Going through early menopause myself showed me firsthand how important it is for women to feel seen, supported, and cared for in an integrated, intentional way. There weren’t really any providers who could give the menopause support we offer at the Marigold Center. That experience, combined with my training, inspired me to create a space that blends the best of the West with the best of the East, offering not only effective treatments but also a sense of community.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road is never smooth…
What’s been exciting about this journey is that all of my lived experiences and challenges have led me to this moment where I truly feel passionate about the care I am giving. From a fledgling medical student, as a blossoming resident, to a compassionate physician who saw the gaping holes in women’s midlife healthcare, to practicing in a hospital for over 20 years, all the times when the road was bumpy taught me so much about what I want to be doing now.
Opening the Marigold Center was a whirlwind of challenges and excitement. From finding the perfect location with a calming environment to finding the right partners, lab, pharmacy, yoga, and all the aspects of care we encompass with our center. The building out of the space, the endless worry of will anyone come. I really had to quell the crippling doubts, and leaned into the hedgehog concept: focusing on one clear driving concept which is the mission of helping women in midlife. I have learned to prioritize passion fueled perseverance and excellence over the rough times.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about The Marigold Center ?
The Marigold Center provides compassionate, personalized care that honors women’s unique experiences with both modern medicine and ancient healing wisdom. We offer comprehensive perimenopause and menopause care, beginning with an in-depth consultation to understand your symptoms and goals. From there, we provide thorough lab work to assess hormone levels and guide a personalized treatment plan. There really is no one size fits all approach to midlife care, which is why we want our clinic to encompass so many aspects. Our treatments are guided with an InBody Composition Analysis, offering insights into body fat, muscle mass, and metabolic health to guide personalized treatment plans. From there we offer hormone replacement therapy, peptide therapy for weight loss, digestion, and brain function, and the Emsella Chair for urinary leakage and sexual health that strengthens the pelvic floor muscles to improve bladder control and core stability. We also offer aesthetic services including SkinPen microneedling and Sofwave ultrasound skin therapy.
What sets us apart is our inclusion of Ayurvedic medicine, meditation, and movement. Midlife care cannot only be treated with medical solutions. It is equally, if not more important, to manage lifestyle components. We host yoga and sound baths at the center, breathwork meditation, and a range of Ayurvedic treatments. By asking patients to fill out their Ayurvedic Constitution, we can continue curating a personalized plan for each individual. I am most proud of being able to bring these services to my community in Pasadena. There really is a gap in this care, and since we also host community events, women’s circles, I am continually trying to reach women in the community and make this care accessible. It was also really important to me to make a space that feels comfortable. As midlife women, we no longer need the sterility of a traditional doctors office, but deserve a place that feels like a sanctuary. I leaned into my passion for design and filled the space with beautiful French antiques, fresh flowers, and warm tea always, making sure the space embodies the comfort of care that can fit seamlessly into our lives. I want readers to know that menopause is not an ending or a medical footnote. It is truly a profound shift in life and when holistically managed, we can merge the wisdom of age with the health of youth.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up as the eldest daughter, I naturally stepped into the role of caretaker. Much of my cultural upbringing was rooted in service to others, which shaped both my curiosity and compassion. Raised in Ohio, I always dreamed of coming to California—it felt like the land of opportunity, rich in diversity, possibility, and endless sunshine. Throughout my adolescence, I focused on finding a path to get here, and that dream became reality when I moved for my medical residency. I’ve never looked back since.
