Exploring Life & Business with Simone LeCompte of The Smart Fit Method

Today we’d like to introduce you to Simone LeCompte.

Simone, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I have always been “the healthy friend” in any circle I run in. My kids ate home made baby food and I am a go to for healthy recipes. At some point I learned that there was a way to be help people with their health goals as a health coach I signed up for classes. After getting my certificate and some additional education, I started coaching people. I really enjoyed it. As I was coaching I found that it was very difficult to get ladies over 40 that had never strength trained to start. And I know how important strength training is for your body, especially for women, especially over 40. As I was trying to find an approach that would work for these ladies I can across a machine called ARX. ARX is an AI driven, adaptive resistance strength training machine.. It is amazing because it is adaptive it can work for someone that is very fit or very deconditioned and it is extremely safe. Far safer than lifting weights in the gym. So I started to look around to see if anyone was using it commercially and I found this boutique gym called The Smart Fit Method in Cardiff by the Sea. I reached out to them to see if they were franchising and they said no, so, I left them with my info. About 3 months later they called and we started the franchise process together.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Nope, not smooth at all. We have had many struggles at the brand level. I bought a second gym from someone that was selling a failing gym and had to close it 7 months later. That was very hard but owning the 2 gyms was extremely difficult.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We are a high tech fitness facility that focuses on longevity and health span. We test and track many health metrics including; VO2 Max, Lung capacity, metabolism, biological age, body composition and more. Most of our members are over 40 and we ae working to help them life the best life they can with the physical ability to do the things they want to do as they retire. It is amazing to help people regain movement and vitality that they had lost.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
I love Mind Pump, The Drive and The Dr.Gabriel Lyons Podcasts.
Books: Outlive by Peter Attia, Good ENergy by Casey Means and The Obesity Code by Jason Fung (this book was an introduction to looking at health differently)
