Hi Sigourny, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My hair journey began 15 years ago at M Salon Spa, where I first discovered my passion through amazing mentorship, which shaped my whole career. After a thriving start, motherhood called, and I took a transformative break to welcome my son, Kai. Balancing professional aspirations with motherhood led me to establish a home-based salon, blending my love for hairstyling with family life.

From its humble beginnings in my first home, my salon space has now grown into a bustling downtown location, where I lead a talented team dedicated to beauty and customer care. I’m grateful for the support of clients, friends, and family who’ve championed my journey. Each day, I aim to bring joy and confidence to clients while continuing to cherish each moment I can with my son.

This path has taught me resilience, determination, and the importance of following my heart’s journey. I’m excited for the future of Hair Love by Sigourny, and our team’s persistent commitment to creating a space of beauty, comfort, and love.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. The COVID pandemic was particularly tough on the hair salon industry. Balancing motherhood and owning a salon has also been challenging, as I strive to be the best version of myself both at work and at home. Despite these challenges, I am fortunate to have the most amazing clients. No matter how tough the day is, I get to meet incredible people and do what I love: being a hairstylist.

We’ve been impressed with Hair Love by Sigourny, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At Hair Love by Sigourny, we’re a close-knit team of three talented stylists, supported by an assistant who helps keep everything running smoothly. We all specialize in creating stunning blonde looks, with Chantel as our curl expert, adding her exceptional skills to the team. We’re also highly skilled in extensions, and our passion extends to all types of hair services, ensuring every client leaves feeling confident and beautiful.

What truly sets us apart is the family-like atmosphere we’ve cultivated in our salon. We have a lot of fun together and with our clients, who are just as much a part of our community as we are. I’m incredibly proud of the journey that led to opening my own salon while also being a mom to my amazing son. My staff is the best team I could have ever asked for, and I’m especially thankful for the clients who have been with me since I started in my home. Their loyalty means the world to me.

We want our readers to know that, while we are experts in blonde, curls, and extensions, we offer a full range of services to meet all our clients’ needs. Our goal is simple: to make every client happy and confident when they leave our salon.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I define success as finding a balance between personal fulfillment and professional achievement. It means waking up each day excited about my work, knowing I bring joy and confidence to my clients, and still having quality time to spend with my family, especially my son. Success is also about resilience and growth, learning from challenges, and continually striving to create a positive impact through my salon. Ultimately, it’s about living a life aligned with my passions and values, surrounded by supportive clients, friends, and family.
