Hi Semaja, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Back in 2023, I was just a broke college student with no money, no job, and honestly, no clue where life was going. I was tired of feeling stuck and dependent on situations that weren’t working in my favor. Deep down, I wanted more for myself. I wanted to create something that was mine. something that could give me the freedom and change I desperately needed.
One night, I had this random idea to start my own business. I didn’t know much about running one, but I knew I loved beauty and I’ve always been obsessed with lip gloss since a kid That’s when Ohsojuicylipgloss was born. I started with literally nothing but a dream. I had little to no savings I had to look for the perfect vendor who could provide the best product for me and buy small batch of materials to test out before picking what vendor was the best to use to sell my glosses. Fast forward to now, and what started as Ohsojuicylipgloss has grown into Ohsojuicycosmetics. It had grown to be more then just lipglosses we now have lip glosses, lipliners and chapsticks in stock ! It’s become so much bigger than I ever imagined. Every time I drop a new product, it sells out almost immediately, and the support has been nothing short of amazing. Seeing people love the product and hearing how my products make them feel confident means the world to me. Looking back, I’m so proud of how far I’ve come, and I’m grateful I took that leap of faith back in 2023. What started as a broke college kid’s dream has turned into something incredible, and I can’t wait to see where it goes next.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Running Ohsojuicycosmetics has been anything but a smooth road. When I first started, I struggled hard with marketing. I had no idea how to get my brand out there, and it felt like I was shouting into the void. I’d post on social media, and it would barely get any likes or engagement. For a while, I wasn’t making any sales, and it was so discouraging. I questioned if I was even doing the right thing or if I should just give up and try something else. But deep down, I knew I couldn’t quit. I started this business because I wanted more for myself, and I reminded myself of that every single day. I stayed up late researching marketing strategies, learning how to improve my content, and figuring out ways to connect with people. I started to really focus on my “why” and stayed consistent, even when it felt like nothing was working. Faith played such a big role in my journey. I kept praying and believing that all the work I was putting in would eventually pay off. And little by little, it did. It wasn’t overnight, but once I started understanding my audience and putting my heart into everything I created, people started to notice.Looking back now, I’m so glad I didn’t give up, even when it felt like nothing was going my way. Those tough times taught me resilience and reminded me that anything worth having takes time and effort. Running Ohsojuicycosmetics hasn’t been easy, but every struggle has made the success that much sweeter
