Today we’d like to introduce you to Ranmie Wilson
Ranmie , we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I began selling food to support myself through college, using the earnings to buy textbooks and cover transportation expenses.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely not, lol! It wasn’t easy, and still is hard, a very challenging role. Like other career paths, such as acting, only those who are strong, patient, and wise can succeed. I’ve faced insults, disrespect, betrayal, bullying, and even threats of assault. Once, I went to a man’s house to cook for him because he booked my services. Upon arrival, he welcomed me in, saying he’d be in the back doing something. A few minutes later, he came out wearing only a towel, then dropped it. I was so upset that I immediately ran off, leaving all my supplies behind.
Recently, a restaurant owner in New Jersey wanted to do business with me, and I agreed. It was an honor to be chosen as a food vendor for his restaurant, supplying African food and pastries. However, he got upset when I didn’t entertain his other requests. I had prepared his order and asked for the remaining payment before delivery, but he refused to pay. I refused to deliver the food without being fully paid, so I ended up selling it to others to recoup my money. In this field, you will be tested often—you just have to be smart and stand firm in business. As for me, I refuse to take shortcuts to reach the top.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Ranmie Global Cuisine ?
Ranmie Global Cuisine is an Afro Fusion Cuisine business specializing in platters and bowls, as well as catering for all types of events such as weddings, engagement parties, birthdays, proposal parties, gender reveals, and more. We also offer on-site services for events, including setup. I am known for supplying customers with their favorite African snacks and pastries, and I’m open to collaborating with stores in LA that are interested in working with me.
What sets me apart from others is my passion for cooking—it’s not just about the money for me. I truly love cooking and am willing to spend hours doing it without hesitation. Most importantly, I remain my authentic self and am confident in my abilities. I’m incredibly proud of my brand, which has grown from my early days as a food vendor, when I would put food in an Uber or Lyft and personally handle all aspects of the event setup and cooking on my own.
If anyone is interested in investing in my business, please feel free to contact me. We ship to every state in the USA and are also available to travel for events in need of caterers. In addition to African cuisine, we offer a variety of other dishes as well.
Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
Yes, I’ve learned more about food safety, including the importance of always wearing gloves when handling food. Additionally, if you’re feeling unwell, it’s crucial not to cook for others.
