Exploring Life & Business with Olga of Hollywood Blooms

Today we’d like to introduce you to Olga.

Hi Olga, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I was searching for a business that would bring together three important things: creativity, variety, and connection with people. I found all of that in floristry.

When I first started, I signed contracts with a few companies that turned out to be dishonest in their practices. Some delayed payments for months, while others never settled with me at all. I invested heavily and felt discouraged, almost ready to give up. At that time, it seemed like those failed partnerships might mark both the beginning and the end of my journey.

Looking back now, I realize that what felt like failure actually gave me something much more valuable — experience. I practiced endlessly, learning how colors, textures, and forms come together in a bouquet. After that period, I decided to focus on education. I took floristry courses from different countries around the world because I wanted to see how florists everywhere create their designs. Each country had its own textures, styles, color palettes, and techniques. That exposure opened my eyes to the endless possibilities of floral art.

Today, after so much practice and training, my bouquets are on a completely different level — more refined, expressive, and professional. And now, as I mentor new florists, I often see them making the same mistakes I once did. I guide them to pay attention to color harmony, balance, and proper composition, helping them grow faster and avoid the setbacks I experienced.

What once felt like the end of my business became the foundation for everything I create today. Those early challenges shaped me into the professional I am now and gave me the strength to share not just flowers, but also knowledge and inspiration with others.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road in business is never smooth, and challenges remain a constant companion. There are moments when it feels as though everything built with so much effort could collapse in an instant. Yet each morning, when I arrive at my shop and see the beauty of the arrangements waiting to be delivered, I find new strength to continue moving forward.

There have been financial losses, difficulties with platforms, and countless organizational hurdles. The system may run steadily, but there is always a new task that demands my full attention. Over time, these challenges have taught me resilience, adaptability, and the importance of taking responsibility into my own hands.

What truly fuels me, however, are my clients. Their gratitude, their return visits, the friends they bring along — these are the moments that remind me why I chose this path. Sometimes they share heartfelt stories. Those words are enough to spark new ideas, to push me to grow, to strive for even greater beauty in every creation. I believe this business holds immense potential, and every obstacle I overcome is another step toward the future I have always dreamed of.

As you know, we’re big fans of Hollywood Blooms. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Hollywood Blooms is not just a flower shop — it is a creative studio where we design a wide range of floral art, from luxury flower boxes and bouquets to flower crowns, corsages, boutonnieres, florariums, and even framed works of dried flowers. We also host workshops, sharing the artistry of floristry with others and inspiring creativity in the community.

What makes our studio unique is the freedom to create absolutely any type of arrangement. We work with weddings and all kinds of events, always tailoring each design to match the client’s vision and style. Just as every client is different, every project we create is unique.

Our approach sets us apart from many other florists — we focus on understanding our clients on a deeper, almost psychological level. We listen, we observe, and we strive to reflect their personality and desires in each bouquet or arrangement. This personal connection, combined with a passion for design, makes Hollywood Blooms stand out as a studio where flowers are transformed into meaningful experiences.

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
One of my favorite childhood memories is from summertime, when I would play outside with the neighborhood girls. Near my home, tall hollyhocks grew in clusters, surrounded by dandelions, daisies, and plenty of greenery. We would use the hollyhocks to make little dolls — their large blossoms became wide skirts, while daisies made perfect heads with curly green “hair” from their stems. Each doll was unique, full of personality, and no two were ever alike. Of course, we also spent hours weaving flower crowns out of dandelions.

Those afternoons were filled with imagination and joy, and I believe that’s where my love for creating with flowers truly began. Even then, flowers weren’t just plants to me — they were characters, stories, and a way to bring beauty to life.
