Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Callahan
Hi Lisa, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Growing up in Ohio, I was the person everyone came to for advice and leadership. After receiving my BA in Communications from Miami University, I spent my early career in Customer Service in industries as diverse as office supplies to temporary staffing.
In 1997, my husband, Darren, and I moved to Chicago, continuing in Customer Service at CP Kelco and Beltone Hearing.
After starting my family, in 2004, I kicked off my Coaching career working for Weight Watchers for 14 years. My ability to make everyone feel seen and heard made me one of the most successful Leaders and Trainers in the city.
In 2017, we moved to Los Angeles from Chicago. I received my Master Transformational Coaching Certification from The Health Coach Institute and went on to found Transformation for Real™, while also working for HCI as a Success Coach.
I am a life long, passionate advocate for LGBTQ rights, completing the Ride for AIDS twice, 500 miles in 1999 and another 200 miles in 2014, raising thousands of dollars for AIDS charities, as well as increasing awareness.
My deep love for my two kids, Liam and Charlotte, my husband Darren, and music are what fuel my everyday existence. Now more than ever, I am a fierce fighter against the patriarchy and for a woman’s right to make her own health care choices. In my perfect world, women are running things, and the world is a better place for it.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Starting a business when you never expected to be an entrepreneur is interesting. Putting yourself out there as “the product” took a little getting used to. It really helped to also work for a company, The Health Coach Institute, as a coach, to grow my confidence and learn how to market myself from an authentic place. I have certainly spent money on opportunities that didn’t pan out but I look at that as all part of the process.
We’ve been impressed with Transformation for Real, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am the co-host of “The Things We Know,” a popular, top 10%, podcast. We are about to kick off our third season. As a leading Transformational Coach and public speaker, I have helped thousands of women identify what they truly want and then go after it. I guide dynamic, high-achieving, professional women with my signature Transformation for Real™ system, taking them from chaos to clarity so they can live a life they are fully in love with.
With both the podcast and Transformation for Real my mission is to let women know the best is not behind them and they can still create a life that will not only impact their family, but can leave a lasting legacy for their community and perhaps even ripple out into the world.
I am very proud of my 20 years in the coaching industry, helping women with everything from having a healthy relationship with food, to building a heart centered business, to making sure they are living their purpose in this life. It has been the most spectacular 20 years and I look forward to 20 more.
What were you like growing up?
People tell me I was always confident with a strong sense of self and clarity. I am not sure I felt that at the time, but I certainly identify that way now.
I have loved music my entire life and love not only being married to a musician, but also so proud of my two kids, Liam and Charlotte, who are very talented musicians in their own right.
For as long as I can remember I have been an ally of the LGBTQ+ community because I believe who you love is no one’s business but your own. Every human on this earth is worthy just by being born.
I have also been involved in the Pro-Choice movement since my early days. Having bodily autonomy and reproductive choice is a value I hold dear.
