Today we’d like to introduce you to Kim Kelly.
Kim, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Kim Kelly – Curator of Hollywood’s Hidden Glamour
Kim Kelly has been shaping the pulse of Los Angeles nightlife since the late ’90s, when she joined forces with nightlife impresario Peter Famulari at Skybar. Then the most infamous and impossible-to-enter bar in town, Skybar became ground zero for a new era of star-studded soirées—where getting past the velvet rope was as coveted as a movie premiere invite.
Riding that momentum, Kelly and Famulari created Boulevard3 inside the historic Hollywood Athletic Club. Here, Kim transformed nightlife into immersive theatre, merging her NYU film training and musical theatre roots into elaborate parties that blurred the line between performance and experience. The world noticed—Condé Nast hailed Boulevard3 as one of the “25 Hottest Venues in the World”, Cosmopolitan dubbed it among the “Sexiest Places to Be”, and Forbes crowned it one of the “World’s Most Star-Studded Venues”.
Her reputation as a visionary grew as she produced headline-making concerts and private events for Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Drake, Billie Eilish, and Justin Timberlake, while brands like HBO, Amazon, and Microsoft tapped her to reimagine launches, premieres, and industry celebrations.
Now, Kelly has returned to the Sunset Strip with her most personal creation yet: Sunset House LA. Conceived as a tribute to the Strip’s golden glam era, it’s a low-key penthouse hideaway—no signage, no cameras, strictly “if you know, you know.” Within months, it became the after-hours living room for Hollywood power players, from network execs and A-list agents to celebrities and influencers, all drawn to its clandestine mix of old-school glamour and insider cachet.
Sunset House LA isn’t just a venue—it’s a reminder that true Hollywood magic still lives behind unmarked doors.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road wasn’t always paved in gold. When Kim and Peter opened Boulevard3, they assumed the long lines at Skybar would naturally migrate east to Hollywood. Instead, opening night drew exactly two guests. With every penny on the line, failure wasn’t an option—it was all or nothing. That pressure lit a fire.
Kim pivoted fast, tapping into Los Angeles’s world-class dance community and transforming Boulevard3 into a stage unlike anything else in nightlife. Gone were the predictable go-go dancers. In their place came electrifying tour dancers, male performers, and surprise midnight shows that turned the club into a living, breathing spectacle. At its peak, more than 50 dancers could flood the room, bringing the house down in choreographed chaos.
The gravity was magnetic. Celebrities didn’t just show up—they performed. Chris Brown would jump on stage unannounced, dancing with the crew like an “unofficial” house dancer. One moment the crowd was mesmerized, the next they realized who was in front of them—and suddenly every phone was in the air. That kind of spontaneity became the Boulevard3 signature: you never knew what was coming, only that it was going to blow your mind.
Soon, everyone in the city wanted in. Boulevard3 wasn’t just a nightclub—it was the heartbeat of Hollywood performance, a stage that rewrote the rules of nightlife.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Sunset House LA?
After building a massive nightclub, I wanted something more intimate—an insider’s hideaway that cultivates connection and good energy. The space itself is legendary: once the London Fog, the first residency for The Doors, where a young Jim Morrison found his voice. That energy still vibrates through the walls.
Sunset House LA is my love letter to the glam era of the Strip—tucked away, unmarked, and meant to be discovered by those in the know. On any given night, a Marvel superhero might be quietly hosting a mafia party, a famous comic might test out new material for a strictly Hollywood crowd, or a Grammy-winning singer could gather friends for an impromptu set. But I can’t tell you who—because we keep secrets here. That’s why Sunset House LA feels like home to the industry’s insiders: it’s a safe space where they can drop the façade and be their most magical selves.
What matters most to you?
What matters most to me is creativity. I love curating events that feel like entire worlds—immersive, personal, and alive with meaning—where every detail, from the music to the cocktails, becomes a thread in a larger story. For me, crafting artistic experiences is a way of touching the divine.
Life will always bring its share of hardships and heartbreak. But if I can sweep people into a wave of joy, even for one night, then I’ve tipped the scales back toward beauty—and that, to me, is magic.
