Today we’d like to introduce you to Juan & Lorena Torres.
Hi Juan & Lorena, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
We have always been passionate about specialty coffee that along the way we decided to start own coffee pop up. However, we wanted to create something that was closer to our hearts and that’s where the idea of a Latin inspired coffee pop up came about. We come from humble beginnings but the support of our community is what has allowed us to grow. We started this journey right before the pandemic hit but that ended up being a blessing in disguise. A time of uncertainty for all of us is what brought us closer to our community and allowed us to built stronger relationships with our community. Our Saturday Rituals became a moment to reconnect, catch up and bring some normalcy into our lives. Now our Saturday Ritual continues as a moment to slow down, catch up and reconnect with our community.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Definitely not a smooth road but every challenge has been a learning experience.
As you know, we’re big fans of Espresso Cuts Inc. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Espresso Cuts Inc started with our love for specialty coffee & hair. We are a family owned business started by husband and wife duo. Both of us have always loved and appreciated specialty coffee and Lorena is a barber. Hence the name of our business.
We specialize in Latin inspired coffee. With a Mexican & Colombian background, we have made it a focus to highlight our cultures. We make all of our syrups in house and use coffee beans from Mexico, Central & South America.
What sets us apart, is the fact that we make it a priority to source our ingredients straight from the source of origin. We are proud to serve authentic flavors that reconnect us to our roots.
For coffee offering, we look forward to seeing you guys in the City of Upland on Saturdays from 9am-2pm at the Upland’s Farmers Market. For barbering services, you can find Lorena in Covina & Rancho Cucamonga. We look forward to seeing y’all there.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
Luck whether it be good or bad has taught us both lessons. For us bad luck is another word for adversity, and it has taught us to be creative. Find our grid and look at things differently to find a way to make it happen.
When it’s been good luck, it’s taught us the importance of networking and paying it forward and also helping people out along the way; that same energy that you put out is what you receive. There’s been countless people that have helped us out along the way and we wouldn’t be here without them.
