Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Deggerone.

Hi Jessica, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I began my journey by studying Naturopathy in Brazil, where I gained knowledge in massage therapy and acupuncture. During one of my exchange programs in Los Angeles, in 2018, I realized that here was the ideal city to establish a wellness business. 

In 2019, I made the decision to move to LA, and in 2022, I started working at a spa, providing massage therapy services. 

As time went on, my passion for wellness grew, and in November 2023, I took the leap and opened my own business called C•Alma Spa. 

At C•Alma, I specialize in offering wellness services, including massage therapy, Chinese medicine techniques, and body sculpting treatments, through house calls, providing a unique and personalized experience for my clients. 

Through my journey, I have combined my skills, knowledge, and love for wellness to create a thriving business that brings relaxation and rejuvenation to those in need. 

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road to where I am today has not been a smooth one, for sure. Especially considering the challenges of immigrating from another country, I faced cultural and language barriers, and the experience of being alone without family and friends by my side for support was difficult. 

However, as time went on, I began to understand the new culture better and adapt to my surroundings. I worked hard to improve my language skills and gradually started feeling more at home. 

Along the way, I also had the privilege of making amazing friends who became like family to me, providing the support and encouragement I needed. 

Despite the struggles, I persevered and overcame the obstacles, which ultimately made me stronger and more resilient. 

We’ve been impressed with C•Alma Spa, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
C•Alma Spa is a mobile spa that specializes in providing a range of wellness services, including massage therapy, Chinese medicine techniques, and body sculpting treatments. What sets me apart from others is my unique offering of bringing these services directly to my clients’ homes, eliminating the need for them to worry about leaving their house, dealing with traffic and also parking. 

One of my most popular techniques is the Brazilian lymphatic drainage massage. This massage technique is designed to detoxify the body, reduce swelling and bloating, improve circulation, and enhance the lymphatic and immune systems. 

What makes the Brazilian lymphatic drainage massage different from regular lymphatic drainage massage is its focus on delivering immediate results. By the end of the treatment, clients can already see a noticeable difference in their tummy and legs, which appear slimmer and tighter. 

To further enhance the effects of the lymphatic drainage massage, I have developed a unique body oil in partnership with Banyo. This body oil, infused with essential oils, is applied during the lymphatic drainage massage, amplifying the therapeutic benefits of the treatment. 

My goal is to provide to my clients a personalized and transformative experience that goes beyond the traditional spa setting, transforming their house into a spa. I strive to exceed my clients’ expectations and leave them feeling their best at the end of each treatment. 

Who else deserves credit in your story?
I owe a great deal of credit to several individuals who have played a significant role in the success of my business. Firstly, I am immensely grateful to my parents for their unwavering support and assistance in funding my studies back in Brazil. Their belief in my abilities and their financial help allowed me to pursue my education and gain the necessary skills to be where I am today. 

I also owe a debt of gratitude to my professors, who not only imparted their knowledge but also instilled in me a strong work ethic and a commitment to delivering exceptional services. Their mentorship and guidance have been invaluable in shaping my professional journey. 

Furthermore, my friends have been instrumental in the growth of my business. They were the first to experience my treatments in Los Angeles and enthusiastically recommended my services to others. Their word-of-mouth referrals played a significant role in attracting new clients and expanding my customer base. 

Joining the Venice Run Club in September of 2022 was a game-changer for me. Not only did I find a supportive community of friends, but it also provided a platform for me to share about my business and connect with potential clients. 

Last but not least, my boyfriend has been a tremendous source of support and assistance. He has played a crucial role in developing my website and has been teaching me valuable insights about marketing strategies. His expertise and creativity in crafting compelling ads have helped me attract more clients and expand my brand reach.
