Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Q

Hi Jennifer, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I have always been into lashes and makeup but going to college and focusing on nursing school made me really busy and the idea to start a business doing makeup and lashes wasn’t really on my mind. In 2020 I decided to take a leap of faith and start doing lashes while I was in nursing school as extra income but after a couple of months I had to stop as going to school, working my full time job and doing lashes was not easy, Fast forward to October 2023 I decided to do lash extensions again but also add makeup because I felt like I could be really good at it and I am interested in event and bridal makeup and being there for someone’s big day

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road, as I sometimes compare myself to others when it comes to my work, I have not been getting clients as easily as I thought I would, and I put a lot of money upfront that I thought I could make back but it has not happened yet. I have even changed the name of my business as the first name I chose, I realized isn’t the name I wanted to stay with, it was first framed beauty and I had a certain aesthetic I wanted with it but this year in June I realized I wanted a business name that incorporated my real name to show ownership over it, to make it more personal to me. Another struggle for me has been getting my name out there, but I continue to have hope

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
In my business I provide makeup and eyelash extension services. I specialize in soft and full glam, when it comes to makeup, and for lash extensions I specialize in volume lashes. I think my personality sets me apart, I pride myself on being very welcoming to all of my clients, as a Christian woman who is trying to get closer to God, every time I interact with someone I try to let me light shine, all to his Glory, people have definitely complimented the way they feel around me and my energy. I also am not doing this for just the money , I am doing this because I enjoy it and I see myself being apart of so many people’s special days by doing their makeup or lashes and I believe they can feel that from me .

I want the readers to know that I am located in bellflower California, and I do work from home but I hope to work out of a salon or studio once I get my esthetician license which will hopefully be by January 2025. What matters most to you? Why?
What matters to me most in this world is equality, human kindness and peace, we all come from different backgrounds but we are all still human, showing love to one another and being courteous can just make the world a much better place, as it is hard enough already without someone being rude or having hatred towards you. I pray everyday for peace and I hope one day we will all get just that.
