Exploring Life & Business with Ixté Owul of Ixté Owul

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ixté Owul

Hi Ixté, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Hi Voyage LA readers and community! I’m so happy to be here and elated to share my story with you. My name is Ixté Owul. I’m a Los Angeles native and still live in the Los Angeles area. I’m a first generation Nicaraguan American who grew up in a marginalized community. I’ve spent most of my life in North East LA and have had a chaotic upbringing. As a kid and teenager, it was very difficult to look far into the future especially when it felt like I spent most of my energy trying to survive and get by. The one thing I did know was that I felt different. It seemed as though I would take notice of things others didn’t such as energy shifts in the room. I also suffered from intense psychic experiences at night that no one around could explain. Little did I know that feeling of separateness would follow me for the rest of my life and still does, to this day.

I moved out on my own at the age of 18 and worked three jobs at once to be sure I made ends meet. I had only one goal which was to live a life on my own away from what I deemed as chaos at the time. My early adult life was filled with unknowns, survival and aimless movement. I was lucky to meet people that cared about me along the way and I don’t think I would’ve made it out there “on my own” without them. Regardless of the support, I still managed to fall and pick myself up over and over again.

By the time I reached the age of 24, I had an unhealthy relationship with escapism and a non-existent relationship with myself. At the age of 24.5 I would lose my father to his alcoholism and unhealthy life and two weeks before my thirtieth birthday, I would lose my beloved mother after losing a battle against a benign brain tumor.

These two rites of passage would be both catalysts to a big shift and change in my life. My father’s passing widened an already open passageway through dreams and messages from the other side. My mother’s passing was a pinnacle moment, one that I have marked as my spiritual awakening. At that point in my life, I was already moving in and out of spirals of heavy drinking and introducing drugs into my coping practices.

When my mother passed, I found the deepest and darkest parts of myself. I met true despair. It was there in the darkest bottom that light cracked through. My dreams had guidance and clarity. I was starting to listen to my dreams but when my mother passed away, my dreams came along with a deep rooted feeling that there was a greater purpose and calling behind each one of them. After a very shocking spiritual encounter in the mountains of Santa Monica, I had a dream that led me to learn more about crystals and psychic protection. That was when the trajectory of my life started to change. I finally found topics that were igniting my soul and, for the first time, was willing to start looking at myself.

I began learning about the chakra system, crystals, plants and energy all together in 2015. Suddenly my path towards my purpose started to open up for me. So, I began to build on my certifications and studies around metaphysics beginning with my crystal healing therapy certification followed by a Faery Tradition mentorship. In the midst of the storm of awakening, other areas in my life began to crumble and change. My corporate job fizzled into nothing, my committed relationships began to change its meaning, and how I saw my life was opening into many more possibilities. In short, what I knew as my reality was beginning to evaporate into thin air. In hindsight, I now know it was all occurring in order to make space for a life that was more aligned with my purpose.

Through this transformation, I studied further by diving into the occult, dream interpretation, completing my tarot studies, and eventually opening up my spiritual business at the end of 2018. As I began seeing clients by offering crystal healing therapy I started to expand on my offerings by being available for tarot readings, dream interpretation classes, ancestral healing classes and services. I continued my studies and received certificates of completion in Reiki and am now a Reiki Master.

Reiki truly changed everything for me. That’s when my psychic gifts elevated to a new level and I started to channel more clearly. This would eventually lead me into speaking Light Language and further evolve my healing gifts. I now offer Light Language as part of my Reiki healing services.

I taught all my courses and offered my services at a magical school and community in downtown LA up until the end of 2022. At the end of 2022 I went on a pilgrimage through the sacred sites of Egypt with this community. I had the privilege of leading a dream circle over the Nile and was honored to lead initiations during that journey and be one of the lead teachers for the group.

My journey through Egypt was filled with so many psychic experiences and downloads that I was forever changed. Upon my return and the weeks following there was a new message coming through from my guides. It was time to leave this community and venture out to build something of my own. So, as of Spring of 2023 I have been reassessing, strategizing and feeling in on how I will be available to the collective. I’m excited about it because so much is coming through as visions and ideas. Until then, I am still doing one-on-one sessions via online and in-person via Open Eye Crystals in mid-city Los Angeles. I also offer free newsletters to my subscribers where I offer oracle readings, reflection exercises and promotions on how to connect and do the work. These newsletters go out at the New Moon of the month.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road. My struggles have been around finding communities that feel like a good fit for me, but that is part of the work. Being in community has helped me learn so much about myself and has helped me get closer to what truly resonates and supports me. The work I do or would deem as my expertise lies in shadow-work which means I have to do the shadow work myself in order to show others the way. That in itself is not easy but very much worth it. Another struggle has been having to start and then restart over and over again which is still all connected to doing the work. I’m a highly sensitive person which means I’m prone to acutely comparing myself to others, I need a lot of breaks from being easily overly stimulated and I highly operate on “how I feel” and that is never consistent. My biggest struggle is accepting my differences but I’m starting to truly embrace them and now that I’m moving and stepping into my independence when it comes to my spiritual business, that means I have the power to call the shots in a way that supports my authenticity and my true nature.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
The name of my business is Ixté Owul. My business is a spiritual business and my services are here to guide others through darkness to meet their light. My expertise is in Underworld Traditions which means I tap into and am familiar with what others better know as the “shadow-self”. All my offerings are always somehow connected to the Divine Feminine aspects of spirituality which are here to bring the collective into more harmony and balance. I use different modalities but all are there for me to lead others into or face their shadows for ultimate change and transformation. The modalities I use are crystals, colored cloths for chromotherapy, pendulums, the Tarot, Reiki, light language, channeling, and psychic clairs such as clairvoyance, claircognizants, clairsentience, and clairaudience.
I offer different services such as Light Language/Reiki healing where I combine my light language channeling (where I speak in tongues as a interdimensional being speaks through me) and Reiki energy to bring about clearing of stagnant energy and blockages and bring in divine light energy to bring about healing and balance. Light Language, in my experience, opens up the heart center to allow a more deeper long lasting experience. During this session, we can meet our shadow which is necessary for true change.
Ancestral Lineage Healing – this service is one of my favorites. This service is tailored for those who are ready to meet an ancestor within their lineage (known or unknown) to bring about healing in their own lineage. Ancestors are not only limited to our blood line but expands further into our wisdom lineages, land lineages, and past lives. This service is more geared towards those who have the calling to do the work or those who don’t know where else to turn and want to get to the source of a less favorable pattern. This does include mediumship, meditation, and sometimes plant or sound healing.
Underworld Healing – This healing is an all inclusive session for those ready to dive deep. I use all my modalities including crystals, colored cloths, light language, meditation, mediumship, plant medicine, and Reiki. This service is for those that are ready to look at their shadow and go beyond to transform and transmute their energy field.
House Blessings – I also consider myself a faery seer which means I have relationship with nature spirits. A faery seer sees the world as a large eco system of beings, energy and dimensions. The home is only a smaller spectrum of this concept. In this service, balance is created within the home and property by using the 5 elements of air, fire, water, earth and spirit to clear out stagnant energy and anything which is not in alignment with the enate state of harmony. This service is perfect for those undergoing a state of transition whether that be from a move, a change in career, end of life or relationship but is not limited to these circumstances.
Wedding Officiating and Life Celebrant – in 2023, I received a certification in “Life Celebration” where I learned how to support a family through the death of a loved one and lead a funeral ceremony. I like to have a focus on the death aspect of my ordainment ministry but I also have experience leading wedding ceremonies for those who are less traditional.
I’m more popularly known for my dream circles and dream interpretation classes and more so for my Ancestral Healing classes and services.

I think what sets me apart is that I’m an advocate for what is difficult. Although I can appreciate the idea of “love and light”, I am a true believer that love and light is longer lasting and stronger if we’re first willing to get down and dirty and get in the muck of things. This is where I see true and great transformation. I want people to get more comfortable with the topic of death and its role metaphorically and physically in all our lives. I believe that once we open ourselves up to having a healthy relationship with death we can live our lives more fully.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Yes! One hard truth I had to learn along my path is that we may fall victim to our own projected idealization of our mentors and teachers. It’s important to remember that teachers and mentors are people, too, which means they have their egos, faults, wounds and blind spots. I find that if we are aware of this early on we can prevent deep disappointment and co-dependency. Teachers and mentors I think arrive at certain points along the path and aren’t meant to be with us forever, at least not as a mentor or teacher forever.
As far as networking goes, I think networking is a good way to get familiar with who you really are and to help discover true resonance. What I mean by this is that networking really works its best when the energy of the network is aligned with your purpose. Our purposes are ever changing, therefore the network that works best for you will change as well. Be flexible and open to change.
