Exploring Life & Business with Heather Ball of Heather Ball Interiors

Today we’d like to introduce you to Heather Ball.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I always had a passion for Design. As a young child, I left a note for a neighbor advising on the poor selections for their exterior paint colors. In high school, I took every Interior design class available, including summer classes at the local colleges. Immediately after high school, I headed to Cal State Long Beach to pursue my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design. With 3 job offers in hand after presenting my thesis in the late 90’s, I accepted a position with Interior Architects. During my 6 years at IA, I was given amazing opportunities, including starting the hospitality division and completing projects in Arizona, Washington, and California. Working in hospitality led to my introduction to Brad Korzen and Kelly Wearstler. While on maternity leave, I was offered a position with the Kor Group, working closely with Kelly and seeing firsthand how she works her magic in design. In 2008, with 3 young children and a poor economy, I paused my design career and slowly began my own firm, helping a local architect, Grisafe Architects, with his interior projects. This led to the formation of my own company, Heather Ball Interiors, which was founded. It was a slow birthing process for Heather Ball Interiors; we are here now and loving it.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
My journey has been relatively smooth and winding, leading me to where I am today. Projects always present unique challenges, and I enjoy the problem-solving that comes with each one. There are always struggles during the construction phase, which makes it all the more challenging. Raising four children under five was not easy, and there were definitely struggles, but it was 100% worth it. My time with them during my career pause resulted in a few years of career advancement being lost; it did take time to rebuild.

We’ve been impressed with Heather Ball Interiors , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Heather Ball Interiors was founded on creating beautiful, functional homes and offices. With a strong professional start in the industry, I understood what was required and how to run a professional interior design business. I have an intuitive response to walking into a job for the first time and meeting the clients. Our designs take into account the property’s architecture, the surrounding environment, and the client’s style when creating a unique interior just for them. We are a client-centric firm, and customer service has always been a core value. We operate a discreet and dependable business. Many of our clients we have worked with for over 2 years, and on multiple projects. We are reliable and a calming presence during renovations and new builds. We know what is needed and how to extract precisely what our clients are looking for in their new space. Our clients know they are in the best hands with Heather Ball Interiors, and that their project will stay on track, ensuring they avoid costly mistakes. We offer full-service interior design, renovations, and new construction. We prefer to be involved early in the process, before the architectural plans are finalized, to collaborate with our clients and ensure that all of their needs are reflected in the plans. Our motto, ‘Design Your Home for Beautiful Living,’ and our design studio is located in Seal Beach, CA.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I have always been blessed with amazing opportunities, both personally and professionally.
