Today we’d like to introduce you to Gyzeht Delgado.
Hi Gyzeht, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My name is Gyzeht Delgado, and I started my business making custom pinback buttons during the pandemic. It all began pretty simple, I was just making some cool band pins for friends. But as more and more people started asking for their own, it quickly grew into something bigger.
I’ve always had an inner drive, and I’ve always been the kind of person who sees an opportunity and wants to run with it. One day, I met a friend who was selling stuff online. That really clicked with me, I thought, “I can do that too.” Around the same time, I asked my partner Edgar what we could do to make a little extra money, and he said, “Why not pins?” That was the spark that started it all.
Being from Santa Ana, I’ve always been involved in the underground music scene, going to shows, meeting people, supporting bands and being part of that community. Music has always been a huge part of my life. What started as making pins for friends ended up turning into a real business. I began making pins for all sorts of pins for bands, then for events, businesses and really, for anything and anyone who needed something custom and unique.
What drives me is the creativity and connection. Every pin tells a story about something or someone, and I love being part of helping people represent what they’re passionate about.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Since the beginning, I’ve had to fund everything out of pocket while working a pretty much minimum wage job. I started by sharing a space, and rent has always taken a big chunk of the profit. On top of that, learning how to actually run and grow a business has been tough.
I’m also a full-time university student, which makes it hard to juggle everything. I’m the head of my household too, so I have a lot of responsibilities at home. And I’ve been working in customer service the whole time, which can be exhausting.
There were times I’d come home from work just wanting to relax and watch a movie, but instead I’d be working on orders or planning the next move. It’s been a grind. But now, after four years, I feel so grateful and blessed that my business is still standing. It’s grown enough to cover all its expenses, and that’s something I’m really proud of.
It hasn’t been easy, but I believe if you’re passionate about something, you’ve got to stick with it. No matter how tough it gets, I think everything eventually connects and pays off.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Pinned Up?

What really sets us apart is how quick we are. Like, really quick. We know deadlines can be tight, and we pride ourselves on being able to handle big orders and fast turnarounds without cutting corners. Our customer service is something people always mention—we’re nice, responsive, and treat every order with care no matter the size. We have even made pins for ASAP Rocky, that was crazy.
What we’re most proud of is how far we’ve come. This business wasn’t started with credit cards, loans, or big investors. We funded it all ourselves, from minimum wage jobs, working hard, and figuring things out as we went. This isn’t a failed pandemic project—we’re still here, and we’ve grown every year. It’s been built from the ground up, powered by hustle and the values we learned from our immigrant parents, who taught us to work hard, stay humble, and keep going.
At the end of the day, we’re just two regular people who care about doing good work and making things people love. And we’re only getting started.
