Today we’d like to introduce you to Farid Yaghoubtil.
Hi Farid, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I didn’t come into law through a traditional path. I grew up helping my parents run a small business, often acting as their translator and problem-solver from a young age. I saw the gaps in the system that left people vulnerable, especially those who didn’t speak the language or know their rights. That experience lit a fire in me. I wasn’t just interested in a profession. I wanted to build something that would protect people who were constantly overlooked or taken advantage of. I worked full time while going to law school at night, and every step forward came through persistence, not privilege.
When we started Downtown LA Law Group, there was no playbook. Just a rented conference room and a drive to fight for people who didn’t have a voice. We built the firm one case at a time, focusing on results and relationships. Over the years, we’ve grown into a statewide practice with a reputation for handling complex, high-stakes cases. What matters most to me hasn’t changed. It’s making sure every client feels heard, protected, and empowered when they need it most.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t been a smooth road, but I don’t think it’s supposed to be. In the early days, we didn’t have a name, a budget, or a roadmap. We had to build trust from the ground up and prove ourselves case by case, client by client. There were long nights, missed milestones, and more uncertainty than stability. But navigating that uphill climb taught us how to operate with discipline, stay adaptable under pressure, and never take success for granted.
For me personally, carrying the weight of being a first-generation professional added another layer to the challenge. There was no fallback plan. Every step forward felt urgent, and every mistake felt costly. But that pressure also sharpened my sense of purpose. It reminded me I was doing this for families like mine – people just trying to get a fair shot. The hard parts reinforced that mission and made me resilient to the challenges along the way.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Downtown LA Law Group is a personal injury firm committed to delivering justice for people who often feel overlooked or outmatched. We focus on serious cases involving catastrophic injuries, brain trauma, rideshare and aviation accidents, workplace incidents, and other high-liability matters that demand real strategy and courtroom skill. Our practice spans the entire state of California, and our team is known for stepping into complex, high-pressure situations and getting results that change lives.
What defines us is the relationship we build with each client. We treat every case like it matters because to the person living through it, it does. There’s no shortcut to trust. It’s earned through communication, persistence, and showing up fully when it counts. We’ve secured hundreds of millions in recoveries, but the outcome is only part of the story. What we take pride in is knowing that people walk away from this process feeling heard, protected, and in control again. That’s the foundation of our firm and the standard we hold ourselves to every day.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
Two books that stand out for me are Just Mercy by Bryan Stevenson and Gideon’s Trumpet by Anthony Lewis. Both highlight the power of advocacy when the stakes are life-altering and the odds are unfair. Just Mercy is a reminder of what it means to fight for dignity, especially when the system fails and Gideon’s Trumpet captures how a single case reshaped the right to counsel in this country. The lessons these books teach keep me focused on why this work matters.
