Today we’d like to introduce you to Debra Giles.
Hi Debra, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
As a young believer in Christ at age 14, I developed a passion for the things of God and my desire to serve Him in a ministry capacity increased. Even after I graduated high school and went off to college the desire only continued to increase, however, as an introvert, I was very afraid to speak before people and avoided it. After 10 years, I realized I could no longer run from ministry or disobey God and finally surrendered to the call of ministry. My passion for God never diminished and I jumped into ministry shaky and afraid asking for God to teach and train me and bring people across my path that would help me. He did all I asked. Soon opportunities to pastor were opened. While pastoring, I received many divine downloads to assist my parishioners spiritually and in business. I developed a program to promote spiritual growth as well as one to increase computer literacy, resume writing, interview preparedness, and financial literacy.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It most certainly has not been a smooth road. I have at times had to take my own medicine in areas of employment, business, and spiritually. I have lost jobs because I didn’t speak up or simply because I may not have been the desired candidate. I have had business failures and have had to encourage myself when things didn’t go the way I expected. And when I heard God in hosting an event and received a different outcome than anticipated.
As you know, we’re big fans of Debra Giles Ministries. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I am an author, public speaker, and I facilitate inspirational, self-help, and how-to workshops and seminars. My business has two main focuses: 1) assisting individuals in building self-confidence through inspirational teachings and 2) helping small businesses thrive and startups get established through mentorship and educational training. I have been a mentor since the mid 1990’s, and I am always excited when I see mentees that are successful in their businesses or life period.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I believe that faith in God, integrity, consistency, and perseverance is essential to accomplishments I have achieved.
