Hi Brianca , we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
For as long as I can recall, I have had a deep passion for fashion and beauty. My interest in fashion serves as a means of self-expression, allowing me to convey my individuality and creativity in the present moment. I have never allowed myself to be confined to a particular style or label, as I enjoy experimenting with various looks and trends.

My fascination with fashion truly blossomed during my high school years. It was there that I was introduced to the technical aspects of design, such as sewing, cutting, and marking. Our final project involved creating a fashion show, during which we presented a series of looks we had developed throughout our time in high school. This project allowed me to collaborate with other departments and showcase my designs, further solidifying my ambition to pursue a career in fashion.

After graduating from high school, I relocated to Miami to attend Miami International University of Art & Design. This decision proved to be transformative, as I not only honed my skills in the business side of fashion but also gained invaluable life experiences. Living in Miami as a young woman, I was exposed to a vibrant and diverse culture that allowed me to model, intern, and volunteer at various fashion events. These opportunities provided me with hands-on experience, networking possibilities, and a chance to learn from seasoned professionals in the industry.

Upon completing my education, I secured a position as the Marketing Coordinator for a women’s apparel wholesale manufacturer. In this role, I was responsible for performing various tasks and duties, effectively serving as the jack-of-all-trades for the company. Although my role was multifaceted, I was determined to excel in each task and ultimately made significant contributions to the company’s success.

My diverse experiences have instilled in me the confidence and knowledge that I am capable of running a successful business. I am grateful for the opportunities I have had to expand my skillset, network with industry professionals, and gain hands-on experience in the world of fashion. I look forward to continuing my journey and making a lasting impact in the industry.

Today I am running a thriving alterations business and I am working on another project that I am really proud of and excited to share when the time is right.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely has not been a smooth road, to say the least! Looking back at these past years, it might be tempting to glamorize them, to paint a perfect picture. And while I am incredibly proud of myself and how far I’ve come, it’s important to be honest: it was definitely not easy. There were challenges, setbacks, and moments where I felt completely lost.

But the journey was absolutely worth it. Every new endeavor, every fresh start, presents a learning curve. It demands hard work, dedication, and a willingness to push through obstacles. Along the way, you’ll likely face criticism, and while it can sting, try to use it as fuel for growth, a chance to refine and improve. In the beginning, I definitely questioned myself, my abilities, and my path. I have one big key and that is to find God and build a relationship with him. Trusting him added to my success a great deal.

Ultimately, consistency is also key. It breeds confidence, solidifies your skills, and proves to yourself that you can overcome anything. So, stay consistent, even when it’s tough, and keep pushing through! The rewards on the other side are immeasurable.

Don’t just be a wallflower, though! These events are opportunities waiting to be seized. Personally, I make it a point to wear my custom designs to these gatherings. I really feel like it serves as a walking advertisement for my skills and unique style, instantly sparking conversations and showcasing my work without me even having to say a word. The key is to be proactive and brave. It can be intimidating, but you have to summon the courage to approach individuals you admire or who hold a position you aspire to. Introduce yourself, share your work, and express your interest in learning from them. That initial step could be the catalyst for an incredible mentoring relationship and potentially unlock amazing opportunities you never even considered.
