Today we’d like to introduce you to Ben Behrooz.
Hi Ben, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My journey started organically. After graduating from UCLA, I worked in media and communications for companies like Sony Music and Yahoo. That early exposure taught me a lot about branding, storytelling, and the power of digital platforms. I then took on the role of Social Media Director at Truthdig, and that’s where I really found my footing. I saw firsthand how media can give voice to those who need to be heard, and that stuck with me.
From there, I launched Branding Los Angeles. It began with just a few clients and a ton of late nights, but the vision was always clear: help brands find their voice in an authentic and powerful way. Fast-forward from 2017, and now we’re a full-service branding and marketing agency working with clients from every corner—nonprofits, startups, medical offices, city projects, and even major public campaigns.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Definitely not. But honestly, I don’t think it’s supposed to be. There were plenty of moments when I questioned everything. That’s just part of being an entrepreneur. You face self-doubt, curveballs, and decisions that feel way too big in the moment.
Early on, I had to learn how to work with what I had. The setup wasn’t always ideal, and budgets were tight, but I kept moving forward. It definitely took time to build momentum, but each challenge helped me grow. Those early experiences taught me how to stay adaptable, trust my instincts, and keep things in perspective—even when things didn’t go exactly as planned.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Branding Los Angeles?
Branding Los Angeles is a multicultural branding and marketing agency, and we specialize in helping businesses communicate their message clearly, creatively, and effectively. We do everything—from logo design, brand strategy, and social media, to PR, community outreach, and influencer campaigns.
What sets us apart? I think it’s the way we blend creative storytelling with strategic thinking. We’re not just throwing content into the void—we’re crafting messaging that resonates with real people. Plus, we’re super tuned into culture. Whether we’re working with a city agency, a healthcare provider or a tech startup, we always come from a place of relevance and inclusivity.
I’m really proud of the community work we do too. Every year, we host a holiday toy drive that supports local kids. And our team genuinely cares about using our skills to make a positive impact, whether that’s through public health campaigns or giving a platform to important causes.
We’ve also stayed ahead of the curve by embracing new platforms and tools—things like SEO and social media partnerships. We don’t wait for trends to catch up—we stay curious and experiment early.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
For me, it always comes back to connection. Whether it’s with clients, my team, or the community, I care deeply about building relationships rooted in trust and authenticity.
I’ve also learned that persistence matters more than almost anything. There are many moments in business when you’ll want to give up or press pause, but coming back, showing up, and staying consistent are what really build momentum.
And finally, I care about impact. Marketing can be more than just selling something. It can tell stories, amplify voices, and bring people together. If I can help a brand connect with someone in a way that feels meaningful—that’s the win.
