Today we’d like to introduce you to Auden Singh

Hi Auden, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My name is Auden (they/he) and I am a self-taught portrait photographer. I have always had an interest in photography, and would try to take photos with my mom and dad’s old phone cameras when I was younger. I was very shy about this interest, but my parents saw that it was something I was good at. Soon enough, they got me my own starter camera and I was hooked! I would always try to take pictures on our vacations, when I was with my friends, and of things just around my room. I eventually got brave enough to start taking serious pictures of myself and start offering shoots. Now, I’ve gained confidence in my abilities and love to collaborate with people!

I’ve shot in many different styles, but I have found my niche in portrait photography. Whether I am shooting a creative editorial or photographing a couple, I love to capture beautiful moments for people. Being able to capture someone’s essence through my camera lens is so rewarding. There is nothing more fulfilling to me than helping someone feel confident and beautiful in front of a camera.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road to pursue photography. I have always struggled with getting consistent bookings and getting followers. I did not have access to high quality gear for a while, so I have had to work on a tight budget. But, this has increased my creativity and made me learn to appreciate and take advantage of what I have.

Based in Long Beach, CA, my queer-owned photography business specializes in creative and personalized portrait photography. I am known for my inclusive and affirming approach to portrait photography which celebrates diversity and individuality. I offer my clients a safe and welcoming space to express themselves. With a focus on artistry and authenticity, I captures unique moments and expressions that reflect each client’s personality. I believe that everyone is photogenic and deserves to feel beautiful in their own skin. Whether clients are looking for bold, experimental portraits or classic, timeless images, I bring a thoughtful and creative touch to every session.

What makes you happy?
Being creative and connecting with other people brings me so much joy. I want to help others feel confident in their identities and see their true inner beauty. As a queer person of color, I know what it is like to not fit into the societal beauty standards and to have your existence be seen as a controversy. Helping other people break from those ideals and realize they are beautiful as they are makes me feel like I have positively impacted someone.
